✅ Sourcing: SIT Pune is a deemed university (not in Maharashtra CAP) — percentile figures are admission benchmarks/estimates, not official CET Cell cutoffs; fees per the official SIT/SIU fee schedule; placements per official SIT disclosures. Verify on the official SIT admissions portal before decisions.
Who qualifies: NRI, PIO, OCI and Foreign National at SIT Pune
Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Pune is a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Being a deemed university, it fills every seat through its own SIU process — a non-CAP route entirely outside Maharashtra's DTE counselling. That matters for NRI families because there is no state seat matrix to track: the international category is administered by Symbiosis itself, with the Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE, scie.ac.in) handling international candidates.
Per the SIU reservation matrix for 2026-27, two separate buckets exist:
| Category | Reservation | Fee currency |
|---|---|---|
| NRI (Non-Resident Indian) | 5% of seats, within the sanctioned intake | USD |
| Foreign National / OCI / Children of Indian Workers in Gulf countries | 15% per course, over & above the sanctioned intake | USD |
Source: SIU/SIT Pune reservation policy for AY 2026-27 (sitpune.edu.in admission pages). How PIO cards are mapped between the two buckets should be confirmed with SIT admissions, since PIO status has been merged with OCI by the Government of India.
With 780 sanctioned B.Tech seats across 7 branches (CSE 180, AI&ML 180, E&TC 180, Civil 60, Mechanical 60, Robotics & Automation 60, Robotics & AI 60), the international buckets translate into a meaningful number of seats — the 15% over-and-above quota alone can add up to roughly 117 seats across courses, though the exact seats offered per branch each year should be confirmed with SIT admissions.
Academic eligibility follows the same SIU baseline: 10+2 (or equivalent) with minimum 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories). For CSE / AI&ML / E&TC, Physics and Mathematics are compulsory plus one of Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics / IT / Biology / Biotechnology; for Civil / Mechanical / Robotics branches, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are all compulsory. International-board students are assessed per SCIE norms — equivalence of your board (IB, A-Levels, CBSE-International and others) is decided at the eligibility stage, so confirm your specific board with SIT admissions before paying any fee.
SIT Pune NRI / PIO / OCI Fee Structure 2026-27 (USD)
The official SIU fee schedule for 2026-27 prices international-category seats in US dollars. The first-year total has three parts: the academic fee, a one-time refundable institute deposit, and a non-refundable admin fee.
📌 In one line: fee structure — confirm the current-year official circular before payment.
| Category / Programme | Academic (p.a.) | Deposit (refundable) | Admin (non-refundable) | First-year total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NRI/PIO/OCI — CSE / AI&ML | $7,000 | $275 | $550 | $7,825 |
| NRI/PIO/OCI — E&TC | $6,600 | $275 | $550 | $7,425 |

📌 In one line: fee structure — confirm the current-year official circular before payment.
| Programme | 1st (offer acceptance) | 2nd (report to SCIE) | 3rd (25 Nov 2026) | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CSE / AI&ML | $1,365 | $3,230 | $3,230 | $7,825 |
| E&TC | $1,365 | $3,030 | $3,030 | $7,425 |
| Mechanical / Civil / Robotics | $1,365 | $2,670 | $2,665 | $6,700 |

Golden Jubilee Scholarship: Foreign Nationals pay far less
A detail many families miss: for Batch 2026-30, Foreign National students receive the Golden Jubilee Scholarship, which cuts the academic fee to a flat $1,300 per year for every branch. The scholarship applies only to the Foreign National category — NRI, PIO and OCI candidates pay the full USD academic fee.
📌 In one line: scholarship slabs — verify eligibility & continuation terms in the official policy.
| Programme | Full academic | GJ Scholarship | Payable (A) | Deposit (B) | Admin (C) | Year-1 total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CSE / AI&ML | $7,000 | −$5,700 | $1,300 | $275 | $275 | $1,850 |
| E&TC | $6,600 | −$5,300 | $1,300 | $275 | $275 | $1,850 |
| Mechanical / Civil / Robotics | $5,875 | −$4,575 | $1,300 | $275 | $275 | $1,850 |
Source: official SIU/SIT Pune Foreign National fee schedule 2026-30 (sitpune.edu.in). Foreign-National instalments: 1st $1,365 (offer acceptance) · 2nd $240 (report to SCIE) · 3rd $245 (25 Nov 2026). The scholarship applies only to Foreign-National students in Batch 2026-30.
Hostel & Mess Fees for NRI / Foreign Students 2026-27 (USD)
SIT Pune sits on the hilltop Symbiosis Knowledge Village campus at Lavale, about 25 km from Pune city centre, so nearly every international student stays in the campus hostel. Hostel is allotted first-come, first-served — apply while paying the first instalment.
📌 In one line: fee structure — confirm the current-year official circular before payment.
| Fee head | NRI/PIO/OCI ($) | Foreign National ($) | Indian (₹), for reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three-sharing hostel (p.a.) | $1,960 | $650 | ₹1,68,900 |
| Four-sharing hostel (p.a.) | $1,440 | $650 | ₹1,24,100 |
| Mess fees (p.a.) | $1,400 | $560 | ₹1,19,600 |
| Hostel deposit (refundable) | $250 | $250 | ₹20,000 |
Source: official SIU/SIT Pune hostel & mess fee schedule 2026-27 (sitpune.edu.in). Hostel and mess fees can increase up to 15% per year.
So a realistic year-1 all-in budget for an NRI CSE student living in a three-sharing room is roughly $7,825 (fees) + $1,960 (hostel) + $1,400 (mess) + $250 (hostel deposit) ≈ $11,435, before travel, insurance and personal expenses.
Four-year cost planning for NRI families
Use the academic fee as the recurring base: $7,000 × 4 ≈ $28,000 for CSE / AI&ML, $6,600 × 4 ≈ $26,400 for E&TC, and $5,875 × 4 ≈ $23,500 for Mechanical / Civil / Robotics — before any revision. Two official caveats sit on top of that: academic fees may rise up to 10% over the programme, and hostel/mess can rise up to 15% per year. The $275 institute deposit and $250 hostel deposit are one-time and refundable; whether the $550 admin fee recurs annually is not spelt out on the published schedule, so confirm with SIT admissions before finalising a four-year remittance plan.
For context against the merit route: Indian merit-seat students pay ₹4,00,000 per year for CSE/AI&ML (about ₹16 lakh over four years), ₹3,75,000 for E&TC and ₹3,00,000 for Civil/Mechanical/Robotics. At prevailing exchange rates the NRI USD fee is a premium over the INR merit fee — that premium buys a reserved-category route that does not depend on an Indian entrance rank. Families should also compare the Direct Quota (DQ) route, where year 1 is charged at roughly double the regular INR fee — for some NRI-status students eligible for both, DQ maths can differ meaningfully from the USD route.
Admission process: step by step for NRI / international candidates
- Check category and eligibility. Establish whether you fall in the NRI bucket (within the max-25% international category within intake) or the Foreign National / OCI / Gulf-workers'-children bucket (15% over & above). International-board candidates are assessed per SCIE norms (scie.ac.in).
- Register. Merit-route registration runs on set-test.org / sitpune.edu.in (SITEEE ₹2,250 per test + ₹1,000 institute registration; JEE/state-score route ₹1,500, waived if SITEEE fees already paid). Whether your specific international category requires a SITEEE/JEE score or is processed directly through SCIE — confirm with SIT admissions before the 15 Apr 2026 registration deadline so both routes stay open.
- Appear / submit scores (if applicable). SITEEE 2026 is a 1-hour CBT: 60 questions — Physics 15, Chemistry 15, Mathematics 30 — 120 marks, 2 per correct answer, no negative marking. Test 01: 2 May 2026; Test 02: 10 May 2026 (both 11:30 AM–12:30 PM).
- Offer letter. Merit lists are published from late May (SITEEE lists 25 May / 3 Jun / 15 Jun 2026). Accept the offer by paying the 1st instalment of $1,365 — typically within 5 days of the offer letter.
- Report to SCIE and pay the 2nd instalment ($3,230 CSE/AI&ML; $3,030 E&TC; $2,670 Mech/Civil/Robotics; $240 for Foreign Nationals on the scholarship).
- Document verification and SIU eligibility process. Complete both parts of the eligibility form on the SIU portal; category and equivalence documents are checked here.
- Hostel allocation — first-come, first-served; apply while paying the 1st instalment (hostelallotment@sitpune.edu.in).
- Join. Programme commencement: 20 Jul 2026. The 3rd instalment falls due on 25 Nov 2026.

Documents checklist for NRI / PIO / OCI / Foreign National
SIT/SCIE confirm the exact checklist at the offer and eligibility stage; the items below are what international applicants to Indian deemed universities are typically asked to keep ready. Treat this as a preparation list, not the official list — confirm with SIT admissions (btechadmissions@sitpune.edu.in / btechdocuments@sitpune.edu.in) before couriering anything.
- Identity: student's passport (all categories); OCI/PIO card where applicable.
- Category proof: for the NRI bucket, proof of the sponsoring parent's NRI status (passport, visa/work permit, or equivalent) is the norm at deemed universities — confirm which documents SIT accepts.
- Academics: Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets/certificates; for non-Indian boards, an equivalence document (AIU or as SCIE specifies) — confirm with SIT admissions whether it is needed for your board.
- Entrance scorecard: SITEEE/JEE Main/MHT-CET scorecard if you applied through a merit route.
- Fee trail: remittance proof for USD payments, and the offer letter.
- Photographs and any category certificates asked for during the SIU eligibility process (Part 1 + Part 2 of the eligibility form).
Official helpdesks: btechadmissions@sitpune.edu.in (admissions) · btechdocuments@sitpune.edu.in (document upload) · eligibility@sitpune.edu.in (eligibility) · fees@sitpune.edu.in (fees) · hostelallotment@sitpune.edu.in (hostel).
Refund rules NRI families should read before paying
- Non-refundable: SITEEE exam fee (₹2,250), institute registration fee (₹1,000), JEE/state-route registration (₹1,500), and the NRI/foreign admin fees ($550 / $275).
- Refundable: the institute deposit ($275) and hostel deposit ($250).
- Cancellation: apply online via the SIU Finance portal (UG Student Admission) using your SET ID; refund slabs follow the University Refund Rules on the official admission page.

Is the USD fee worth it? Placement context, year by year
For a family paying in dollars, the honest way to judge SIT Pune is the official year-labelled placement record — not a single headline number:
📌 In one line: fee structure — confirm the current-year official circular before payment.
| Academic year | % placed | Highest package |
|---|---|---|
| 2025-26* (ongoing) | 94% | ₹27 LPA |
| 2024-25 | 92% | ₹24 LPA |
| 2023-24 | 91% | ₹50 LPA |
Source: sitpune.edu.in/placements (official placements page, retrieved 2 July 2026). *2025-26 season ongoing at the time of the official update. Independent aggregators report B.Tech average packages of roughly ₹8.9 LPA for recent batches — label-checked but not an official SIT headline figure.
Alongside placements, SIT holds NIRF 2025 Engineering rank #46 and India Today 2025 #8 among private engineering colleges, with Symbiosis International ranked #20 in India in the QS World University Asia Rankings 2026. Recent official recruiter lists include Workday, NVIDIA, Microsoft, IBM India, Deloitte, Oracle, Juspay, UKG and Hyundai Motors. For international students specifically, the campus draws learners from dozens of countries and runs semester-abroad and 4+1 dual-degree pathways (Deakin, UEA, Loughborough, Northeastern, Aston) through SCIE — useful if your plan is B.Tech in India followed by a master's abroad.
One language caution while you research: because SIT is a deemed university outside Maharashtra CAP, any "cutoff" you see for it is an admission benchmark estimate from observed trends, not an official CAP closing figure. Our SIT Pune cutoff benchmarks page explains those estimates branch by branch.
