Admission Route: the Biggest Real Difference
Before comparing fees or packages, understand that these four colleges are split across two different admission systems, and that changes everything about how you apply, what you pay and what counts as a "cutoff".
SIT Pune is a deemed-university constituent — it does not participate in DTE Maharashtra CAP at all. Admission is direct through SIU: you apply with a SITEEE score (the primary gateway), or a JEE Main or MHT-CET score, and then attend a Personal Interaction (PI) round at the Lavale campus. The official SITEEE 2026 pattern is 60 questions — Physics 15, Chemistry 15, Mathematics 30 — for 120 marks (2 marks per correct answer) with no negative marking; Mathematics is half the paper, so weight your preparation accordingly. Test dates are 2 May and 10 May 2026, registration closes 15 April 2026, and the test fee is Rs 2,250 per attempt plus a Rs 1,000 institute registration. Because there is no CAP seat matrix here, any percentile you see quoted for SIT is an admission benchmark estimated from past trends, not an official closing figure.
MIT-WPU is also outside CAP — it became a State Private University in 2017 and runs its own admission funnel accepting JEE Main, MHT-CET, PERA CET or its in-house MIT-WPU CET, with a statement of purpose. So, like SIT, its entry percentiles are trend-based estimates.
PCCOE and VIT Pune are the CAP colleges. Both are SPPU-affiliated autonomous institutes whose merit seats are filled through the DTE Maharashtra Centralised Admission Process. Their closing percentiles are official, published numbers: in CAP 2025, PCCOE Computer Engineering (Open, Round 1) closed at 98.46 percentile and VIT Pune CE (Open) at 98.95 percentile. VIT additionally fills about 20% of seats through a separate institute-level route with a higher, branch-wise fee.
The practical takeaway: a student at ~93-96 percentile in MHT-CET is usually out of the running for CSE at PCCOE or VIT via CAP, but is squarely inside the estimated intake zone at SIT Pune (via SITEEE/PI) and MIT-WPU — provided the family can carry roughly double the annual fee.

Fees Compared: CAP Value vs Premium Campus
Fee gap is the cleanest, most verifiable difference between the two camps. Per the official 2026-27 schedules:

Two nuances matter. First, at the CAP colleges the fee is category-driven — an OBC/EWS/SEBC candidate at PCCOE pays Rs 1,10,830 and an SC/ST candidate just Rs 1,746 per year, concessions that simply do not exist on SIT's or MIT-WPU's private fee cards. Second, at VIT Pune the low Rs 2.12L fee applies only to CAP merit seats; its institute-level CSE seat costs Rs 6.24L/yr — more than SIT or MIT-WPU. So "VIT is cheap" is only true if your percentile clears the official CAP closing.
Add living costs for hostellers: SIT Pune hostel runs Rs 1,24,100 (4-sharing) to Rs 1,68,900 (3-sharing) plus Rs 1,19,600 mess per year (2026-27, can rise up to 15%/yr); PCCOE quotes Rs 1,65,000 (boys) / Rs 1,55,000 (girls) hostel-plus-mess; MIT-WPU tiers start around Rs 2.27L including a Rs 65,000 mess component; VIT Pune's hostel capacity is limited and most students arrange private accommodation.

Placement marketing is where comparisons usually go wrong, so every figure below carries its year. SIT Pune's own placements page publishes a year-wise table, which we use verbatim:

Read that honestly: the famous Rs 50 LPA SIT number belongs to 2023-24, not the current cycle — the current cycle's highest so far is Rs 27 LPA with 94% placed and counting. That is still a strong, consistent 91-94% band across three years. SIT's 2024-25 named recruiters include Workday, NVIDIA, Microsoft, IBM India, Deloitte, Oracle, Juspay and KION, per the official page.
Against the peers: MIT-WPU reports a Rs 46 LPA highest (2025-26) but a lower Rs 6.23 LPA average and ~78.5% placement rate. PCCOE's official 2024-25 disclosure shows a Rs 60.32 LPA highest with a Rs 5.91 LPA overall average (CSE 2025 average Rs 6.78 LPA). VIT Pune reports ~85-90% placed, ~Rs 8.2 LPA average / Rs 9.5 LPA median and Rs 45 LPA highest (2025, Microsoft). On averages — the number that actually describes a typical student — SIT Pune and VIT Pune lead this group at roughly Rs 8-9 LPA, while the headline "highest" numbers everywhere describe one or two offers.

Campus, Brand and Student Life
SIT Pune is the only fully residential option of the four: a 300-acre hilltop knowledge village at Lavale shared with Symbiosis's business, law and design schools, with on-campus hostels, sports complex and swimming pool — but ~25 km from Pune city, so day-scholar life is impractical. It is NAAC A++ at the university (SIU) level, ranked #46 in NIRF 2025 Engineering and #8 among private engineering colleges by India Today 2025, with Civil, CSE, Mechanical and E&TC NBA-accredited and 780 sanctioned B.Tech seats. MIT-WPU in Kothrud offers the opposite: a multidisciplinary city campus with the widest non-engineering ecosystem. PCCOE (Akurdi) sits in the PCMC industrial belt close to Hinjewadi commutes, and VIT Pune (Bibwewadi/Kondhwa) is a compact city college with a serious academic culture and the toughest official CAP closing of this group.

Which One Should You Choose?
Choose PCCOE or VIT Pune if your MHT-CET percentile clears their official CAP closings (98.46 / 98.95 for CSE in CAP 2025) or you hold a reserved-category concession — the 4-year tuition of Rs 7.8-8.5L is half the private options, and outcomes per rupee are excellent.
Choose SIT Pune if you want the Symbiosis brand, a fully residential campus and a 91-94% placement band (2023-24 to 2025-26, official), and your score is strong-but-not-CAP-topper level: SITEEE gives you a dedicated second gateway (no negative marking, Maths-heavy) independent of the CAP race. Budget Rs 4L/yr tuition plus ~Rs 2.4-2.9L/yr hostel-and-mess. If your entrance score misses the merit intake, SIT also runs a Direct Quota and an NRI/International route (max 25% over intake seats, USD fees) — both legitimate, both costlier in year one.
Choose MIT-WPU if you want a private-university experience inside the city with multiple entrance options and multidisciplinary electives, and you value campus breadth over the last rupee of average package (Rs 6.23 LPA, 2025-26).
