🔍 How we source the numbers on this page. Every fee, cutoff, seat and placement figure below is taken from a named primary document — the Maharashtra State CET Cell CAP records, PICT’s FRA-approved fee circular, PICT’s own admission notices and its Training & Placement report. Aggregator estimates are not used.
Evidence note. Check the academic year printed beside every changing figure — fees, cut-offs and seat counts are reissued each cycle, and a number from last year reads exactly like this year’s. Nothing on this page should be multiplied to reach a multi-year total; PICT publishes one year at a time and does not state that the same amount repeats. A published seat or hostel capacity is what exists, not what you are assured of — publication of capacity does not guarantee allotment. Found an error? Tell us.

PICT Pune Fees 2026 — Complete Year-wise Cost Breakdown
PICT Pune's total 4-year B.Tech cost for the 2026-30 batch breaks down as follows: official annual B.Tech Open/CAP fee is Rs 1,23,000 (tuition Rs 1,06,956 + development Rs 16,044), so PICT Pune fees for 4 years of B.Tech come to Rs 4.92 lakh (base fee outlay) before hostel, exam, university and one-time charges. Hostel adds ₹1.15–1.25 lakh per year (official hostel page; double occupancy — mess & canteen are among the listed facilities), taking the accommodation cost over four years to ₹4.6–5.0 lakh, plus a one-time refundable hostel deposit of ₹15,000. University, exam and eligibility charges add roughly ₹7,000–12,000 per year, with a ₹5,000 refundable institute caution deposit in Year 1.
Indicative all-in 4-year cost: ₹9.5–10.5 lakh for outstation students (fees + hostel + all incidentals), or around Rs 5.3-5.6 lakh for Pune-residing day scholars after adding routine exam/university/one-time charges. Compared with private engineering peers (MIT-WPU at ₹14–18 lakh, SIT Pune at ₹13–16 lakh, COEP government at roughly ₹6 lakh over four years before category concessions), PICT sits firmly in the value-for-money bracket while showing one of Pune's strongest official computer-engineering placement outcomes: ₹14.5 LPA CE average in PICT T&P 2023-24.
Placements ROI: use official CTC data as an outcome signal, not a guaranteed return. PICT T&P 2023-24 lists ₹42 LPA highest, ₹12.5 LPA overall average, ₹14.5 LPA CE average, ₹13.8 LPA IT average and 93.15% placement. We confirm the exact current fee circular and any branch-specific differences in writing before you commit a rupee.

First-Year Fee Payable at CAP Reporting — Category-wise (Official 2026-27)
PICT’s official CAP reporting portal publishes the exact amount a candidate pays at institute reporting for A.Y. 2026-27. The full fee amount must be paid at the time of reporting, and no cash or cheque is accepted — DD / pay order, net banking / RTGS / NEFT / UPI / QR code, or a debit / credit card swipe only.
| Fee head | Open — Maharashtra | Open — Outside MH | OBC / EWS / SEBC / EBC |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuition fee* | Rs 1,06,956 | Rs 1,06,956 | Rs 53,478 |
| Development fee* | Rs 16,044 | Rs 16,044 | Rs 16,044 |
| Other fee (SPPU) | Rs 2,436 | Rs 2,436 | Rs 2,436 |
| Exam fee (both semesters) | Rs 4,000 | Rs 4,000 | Rs 4,000 |
| University eligibility fee | Rs 650 | Rs 1,150 | Rs 650 |
| Caution deposit (refundable) | Rs 5,000 | Rs 5,000 | Rs 5,000 |
| Total Year-1 fee | Rs 1,35,086 | Rs 1,35,586 | Rs 81,608 |
*PICT’s own note on this table: tuition fee and development fee are subject to revision based on the outcome of the Review Application submitted to the Fees Regulating Authority, and additional charges may be applicable at actuals. The same official table also carries a fourth column for OBC / EWS / SEBC / EBC girls — tuition Rs 0 with a Year-1 total of Rs 28,130 — but that column heading is clipped in PICT’s own printout, so confirm the exact category wording at reporting. Candidates claiming a concession must also apply for scholarship or freeship on the MAHADBT portal per the schedule declared on the PICT website and notice board, failing which the full fee is payable.
NRI / OCI / PIO / Foreign National & CIWGC Fees 2026-27 (Official — Supernumerary Seats)
PICT runs a separate International Admissions route for NRI, OCI, PIO, Foreign National and CIWGC candidates, and the OCI/FN and CIWGC seats among them are supernumerary — over and above the sanctioned intake — while the 39 NRI seats sit inside the institute-level quota of the sanctioned 780.
| Fee head | CIWGC | Management / NRI / OCI / FN |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition fee | Rs 1,04,783 | Rs 1,73,914 |
| Development fee | Rs 15,717 | Rs 26,086 |
| Other fee (SPPU) | Rs 2,420 | Rs 2,420 |
| Examination fee | Rs 4,000 | Rs 4,000 |
| Eligibility fee | Rs 650 | Rs 1,150 |
| Caution money (refundable) | Rs 5,000 | Rs 5,000 |
| Total Year-1 fee | Rs 1,32,570 | Rs 2,12,570 |
The Rs 2,00,000/year figure usually quoted for the management / NRI route is exactly the tuition (Rs 1,73,914) plus development (Rs 26,086) component of this table; Rs 2,12,570 is the full Year-1 amount including the SPPU, exam and eligibility fees and the refundable Rs 5,000 caution money. PICT publishes separate document lists for NRI, OCI/PIO, Foreign National and CIWGC candidates on its international admissions page.
- 100% tuition fee waiver for SC / ST / NT / DT / VJ / SBC students.
- 50% tuition fee waiver for OBC / SEBC / EWS students — and 100% for girls in these categories under the Maharashtra girls' tuition-waiver scheme — if approved, effectively reducing PICT Pune fees for girls in these categories to the Rs 16,044/yr development fee plus routine charges.
- 100% development fee waiver for SC students.
- Every waiver is scheme-routed (MahaDBT) and subject to that scheme’s own eligibility and income rules for the year — approval is not automatic at admission.

| Double occupancy, attached WC (girls & boys hostel) — per year | ₹1,25,000 |
| Double occupancy, common WC (boys hostel) — per year | ₹1,15,000 |
| Refundable deposit (one-time) | ₹15,000 |
| Year-1 total | ₹1,40,000 (attached WC) · ₹1,30,000 (common WC) |
| Capacity (double occupancy) | Girls: 106 rooms · 212 students | Boys: 76 rooms · 152 students |
Facilities listed on the official hostel page: hot water, internet, medical officer, hostel mess & canteen, indoor and outdoor sports including a gymnasium, two-wheeler parking and generator backup (elevator in the girls hostel). Official source: pict.edu/hostel. PICT’s in-campus hostel has limited capacity. FindUrCollege Tip: since hostel seats are few, many students stay in PGs in the Dhankawadi area — a student-dense hub at roughly ₹8,000–12,000/month including meals.
PICT Pune Cutoff 2023, 2024, 2025 & 2026 — JEE Main & MHT-CET Closing Percentiles
PICT Pune has one of the highest CSE cutoffs in Maharashtra — behind COEP and comparable to VJTI. The table below shows the official MHT-CET CAP Round-I closing percentiles year by year, from PICT's published cutoff archive (pict.edu/cutoff-FE). In 2025, the last Computer Engineering CAP Round-I seat went to State merit rank 791 (MHT-CET), while the All-India (JEE Main) seat closed at CAP All-India merit rank 693 (the position on PICT's JEE-Main All-India seat list, not the national JEE Main AIR). Jump to a specific year below for that year's PICT Pune cutoff.
📌 In one line: MHT-CET CAP Round-I 2025 closing percentiles (PICT published) — Computer Engg 99.71 · AI & DS 99.62 · IT 99.60 · E&Comp 99.58 · E&TC 99.30.
| Branch | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Computer Engineering | 99.76 | 99.68 | 99.75 | 99.71 |
| Information Technology | 99.50 | 99.47 | 99.61 | 99.60 |
| Artificial Intelligence & Data Science | 99.43 | 99.42 | 99.56 | 99.62 |
| Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering | 98.91 | 98.96 | 98.24 | 99.30 |
| Electronics & Computer Engineering | 99.04 | 99.15 | 99.45 | 99.58 |
PICT CSE is among the most competitive engineering seats in Maharashtra, just behind COEP. Only students in the top ~0.3% of MHT-CET takers can realistically target PICT Computer Engineering through CAP. Management quota offers a path for students who narrowly miss the CAP cutoff: per PICT's official cutoff archive, the 2025 Institute Level seats closed at 99.2156179 (Computer Engineering), 98.9251126 (AI & Data Science), 98.5686454 (Electronics & Computer Engineering), 98.4106279 (Information Technology) and 97.5051096 (Electronics & Telecommunication) — so the realistic window is roughly the 97.5–99.2 percentile band. Contact FindUrCollege at +91 91126 50438 for management quota seat status.
PICT Pune Cutoff 2026 (target closing ranks)
Updated 11 August 2026 — CAP Round 1 is now published. The official 2026–27 Round-1 closing numbers are in the category-wise table further down this page, taken from the State CET Cell’s own list: Computer Engineering closed at merit number 929 (99.79 percentile) on the Open list. The percentiles below were our pre-result targets, kept here rather than deleted because they turned out close but slightly low — we said 99.71+ for Computer Engineering and the official figure came in at 99.79. Read them as a guide to how the band moves, not as the 2026 cut-off. CAP has four online rounds followed by an institute-level round; the full round-by-round calendar is on our MHT-CET CAP 2026 counselling schedule. Based on the tight 2023–2025 band above, candidates should target the following percentiles for a confirmed PICT Pune seat through CAP: Computer Engineering 99.71+, Information Technology 99.60+, AI & Data Science 99.62+, Electronics & Computer 99.58+ and Electronics & Telecommunication 99.30+. On the JEE Main All-India seats, an All India Rank under roughly 10,000–12,000 is typically needed for PICT Computer Engineering in 2026. Verify the live figure on the official CAP portal once 2026 rounds open, and see our MHT-CET CAP counselling guide for how the PICT Pune cutoff is applied during choice-filling. Comparing options? Check the VIT Pune cutoff and PCCOE Pune cutoff, two common backups if you narrowly miss the PICT Pune cutoff.
PICT Pune Cutoff 2025 (CAP Round-I closing ranks)
The official PICT Pune 2025 cutoff (MHT-CET CAP Round-I closing percentile, as published by PICT on its own official cutoff page) was Computer Engineering 99.71, Information Technology 99.60, AI & Data Science 99.62, Electronics & Computer Engineering 99.58 and Electronics & Telecommunication 99.30. On the same official list, the final CE Round-I seat corresponded to State merit rank 791 (MHT-CET) and the All-India (JEE Main) seat to CAP All-India merit rank 693 — a position on PICT's JEE-Main All-India seat list, not the national JEE Main AIR. Institute Level (management quota) seats close lower still, so candidates who narrowly miss the CAP cutoff retain a path. See the category-wise 2025 table below for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and Ladies-Open closings.
PICT Pune Cutoff 2024 (CAP Round-I closing ranks)
The PICT Pune 2024 cutoff (MHT-CET CAP Round-I closing percentile) was Computer Engineering 99.75, Information Technology 99.61, AI & Data Science 99.56, Electronics & Computer Engineering 99.45 and Electronics & Telecommunication 98.24, per PICT's published cutoff archive (pict.edu/cutoff-FE). Computer Engineering held its near-99.8 band, while Electronics & Telecommunication dipped to its lowest of the four-year cycle in 2024.

The PICT Pune 2023 cutoff (MHT-CET CAP Round-I closing percentile) was Computer Engineering 99.68, Information Technology 99.47, AI & Data Science 99.42, Electronics & Computer Engineering 99.15 and Electronics & Telecommunication 98.96, per PICT's published cutoff archive (pict.edu/cutoff-FE). For historical reference, the 2022 Computer Engineering CAP Round-I cutoff was 99.76.
PICT Pune MHT-CET Cutoff 2025 — Category-wise (CAP)
Closing percentiles differ sharply by category. The table below shows the official MHT-CET CAP 2025 Round-1 closing percentiles (State Level seat types — the S-suffix codes the CET Cell uses for an autonomous institute — last seat allotted) for every PICT branch and category, from the Maharashtra State CET Cell (cetcell.mahacet.org); the Institute Level / Management row comes from PICT’s own official cutoff archive (pict.edu/cutoff-FE). Later CAP rounds and Institute-Level (management) seats typically close slightly lower as higher-ranked candidates vacate seats — always verify the current round on the official CAP portal.
📌 In one line: category-wise MHT-CET CAP 2025 closing percentiles for every PICT branch — Open, OBC, EWS, SC, ST & TFWS.

| SC (GSCS) | 97.94 | 97.50 | 97.52 | 97.20 | 96.18 |
| ST (GSTS) | 93.85 | 92.26 | 93.09 | 90.41 | 85.90 |
| JEE Main (All-India seats) | 98.91 | 98.66 | 98.80 | 98.53 | 97.95 |
| Institute Level / Management Quota (MHT-CET score) | 99.2156179 | 98.4106279 | 98.9251126 | 98.5686454 | 97.5051096 |
Reading the table: an Open-category student needed 99.71 percentile for PICT CE in Round-I, while OBC closed only marginally lower (99.62). SC and ST candidates have meaningfully more headroom (CE 97.94 and 93.85 respectively), and EWS closed at 99.34. For the less-competitive branches, the PICT ENTC cutoff (Electronics & Telecommunication) closed at 99.30 in Round-1 Open and Electronics & Computer at 99.58 — for these branches the closing percentile drops toward the lower end of each category’s range. Confirm the exact figure for your branch, category and CAP round before locking your choices. Year-on-year, the Computer Engineering CAP Round-I cutoff has held a tight 99.68–99.76 band across the last four cycles, so plan for roughly 99.7 every year rather than expecting it to soften.
Does the PICT Cutoff Drop in Later CAP Rounds? (Official Round 1–4, 2025)
Barely. The official 2025 CAP allotment data (CET Cell, institute 06271) shows PICT’s Open (GOPENS) closing percentile falls only marginally from Round 1 to the final round — Computer Engineering drops just 0.10 (99.71 → 99.61) and even E&TC only 0.22 (99.30 → 99.08). Do not plan on a big later-round drop at PICT.
📌 In one line: PICT Open closing percentile by CAP round (2025) — the R1→R4 drop stays around 0.2 or less for every branch.
| Branch | Round 1 | Round 2 | Round 3 | Round 4 (final) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Computer Engineering | 99.71 | 99.63 | 99.63 | 99.61 |
| AI & Data Science | 99.62 | 99.55 | 99.53 | 99.53 |
| Information Technology | 99.60 | 99.53 | 99.50 | 99.45 |

| Electronics & Telecommunication | 99.30 | 99.16 | 99.13 | 99.08 |
On the 15% All-India (JEE Main) seats, the official Round-1 closing was: Computer Engineering 98.91 %ile (CAP All-India merit rank 693), AI & Data Science 98.80 (rank 783), Information Technology 98.66 (rank 932), Electronics & Computer 98.53 (rank 1070) and E&TC 97.95 (rank 1721). These ranks are positions on the CAP JEE-Main All-India merit list — not the national JEE Main AIR.

PICT Spot Round Cutoff — What to Expect
The PICT spot round cutoff applies only to vacancy seats left after the CAP rounds and Institute-Level admissions, so it is not a low-score shortcut. With the 2025 CAP final round closing at 99.61 percentile for Computer Engineering and the Institute Level score at 99.2156179, any spot/vacancy-round seat at PICT still closes near these merit levels. Spot-round dates and vacancy lists are notified on the official CAP portal and pict.edu after the regular rounds — see the dedicated PICT spot round cutoff guide for round-wise detail.

PICT Pune Seat Matrix 2026-27 — Sanctioned Intake and Route-wise Seats
| Programme | Choice code | Sanctioned intake | Maharashtra CAP | All-India CAP | Institute level — other than NRI | NRI | OCI / FN | CIWGC |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Computer Engineering | 0627124510 | 240 | 156 | 36 | 36 | 12 | 24 | 12 |
| Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering | 0627137210 | 240 | 156 | 36 | 36 | 12 | 24 | 12 |
| Information Technology | 0627124610 | 180 | 117 | 27 | 27 | 9 | 18 | 9 |
| Artificial Intelligence & Data Science | 0627126310 | 60 | 39 | 9 | 9 | 3 | 6 | 3 |
| Electronics & Computer Engineering | 0627184410 | 60 | 39 | 9 | 9 | 3 | 6 | 3 |
| TOTAL | — | 780 | 507 | 117 | 117 | 39 | 78 | 39 |
How to read the total: Maharashtra CAP (507), All-India CAP (117), institute level other than NRI (117) and NRI (39) add to the 780 regular sanctioned seats. The 78 OCI/FN and 39 CIWGC seats are supernumerary and are not added into the 780 figure. The institute-level quota as a whole is 20% of the sanctioned intake — 117 other-than-NRI plus 39 NRI — which is why PICT’s own institute-level notice invites applications against 117 seats.
Use the ten-digit choice code, not the institute code, when you fill the CAP option form. 06271 identifies the college; the choice code identifies the branch.

PICT Pune Overview: Campus, Affiliation & AICTE Approval
Location & connectivity: Survey No. 27, Near Trimurti Chowk, Dhankawadi, Pune — 411043; roughly 12 km from Pune Junction railway station and 19.5 km from Pune Airport, on the Pune–Satara Road corridor.
Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT), established in 1983, is a private unaided institution that has carved a niche for itself as a world-class center for technical education. Unlike many other engineering colleges that offer a dozen different branches, PICT focuses on a compact, computing-centric set of five branches — Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science and Electronics & Computer Engineering. This "Specialized Focus" is the secret behind its legendary placements.
At "FindUrCollege," PICT is among the hardest private CS-focused admissions in Pune — its Computer Engineering cut-off is the highest of the private colleges compared on this page. Its place in Pune’s software hiring market and its rigorous academic culture make it a top-tier destination.
Rankings, Accreditation and Institutional Strength
- NIRF: PICT does not appear in the NIRF India Rankings 2025 Engineering list of ranks 1–100. The most recent NIRF placement PICT itself publishes is the India Rankings 2020-21 band of 201–250 (Engineering), republished in its Institute Information Brochure 2026-27. NIRF reports a median salary only — it has no average-package or highest-package field.
- NAAC: Accredited with an ‘A+’ grade, across four accreditation cycles.
- NBA: All eligible UG programmes are NBA-accredited — Computer Engineering and E&TC through six cycles, Information Technology through four.
- Autonomy & affiliation: An autonomous institute affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), approved by AICTE and regulated on fees by Maharashtra’s Fees Regulating Authority.
- Quality certification: ISO 9001:2015 certified, continuously since 2005.
- Student chapters: The PICT ACM Student Chapter (PASC) has taken ACM India’s Outstanding Chapter Award six consecutive times; the PICT IEEE Student Branch won “Student Branch of the Year, IEEE Pune Section 2019”; and the CSI student branch was nominated Best Student Branch by CSI India in 2018.
- Specialisation: Five computing- and electronics-focused branches only — no dispersed portfolio — which is what concentrates its recruiter base on software and product roles.

How to Apply: MHT-CET CAP Rounds
Admission to PICT is famously difficult due to the limited number of seats and the extreme demand among toppers.
A. MHT-CET (State Level)
- Target Audience: Maharashtra State (MS) candidates.
- Cutoff Percentile (CAP Round-I 2025):
- Computer Engineering: 99.71+ Percentile (CAP Round-I 2025 closing)
- Information Technology: 99.60+ Percentile
- Electronics & Telecommunication (ENTC): 99.30+ Percentile
B. JEE Main (All India Quota)
- Target Audience: All India (AI) candidates.
- Cutoff Trends: To secure a seat in Computer Engineering through JEE Main, an All India Rank under 10,000 - 12,000 is typically required.
C. Institutional Quota / Management Quota
PICT follows a very strict and merit-based institutional admission process. Official UG ILS fee is Rs 2,00,000/year and the 2025 CE Institute Level score was 99.2156179. For A.Y. 2026-27 PICT’s official admissions portal lists 117 Institutional Quota seats across the five B.Tech courses — Computer Engineering 36, Electronics & Telecommunication 36, Information Technology 27, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science 9 and Electronics & Computer Engineering 9 — with applications also invited against seats left vacant after the CAP rounds (ACAP). The last date for the online application is 8 September 2026, 11:59 PM IST. See the full seat matrix above. In parallel, submit the State CET Cell’s own Institute-Level option form (3 August – 7 September 2026 in the official schedule) — PICT’s application does not replace it.
- Process: There is no "backdoor" entry. Institutional seats are filled based on the merit list of applicants who have applied specifically to the college portal after the CAP rounds.
- Consultant Advice: Since PICT is a highly academic-focused college, even management seats require a very high percentile in CET/JEE.
Academic Deep-Dive: The Trio of Excellence
PICT offers five focused undergraduate branches — all in the computing and electronics space — ensuring resources stay channeled into the IT sector. Its three flagship branches, detailed below, are Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Electronics & Telecommunication.
Computer Engineering
The crown jewel of PICT. The department is known for its "Coding Culture." Students here win global hackathons and contribute significantly to open-source projects.
- Key Focus: Data Structures, Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, and System Programming.
Information Technology (IT)
The IT department is nearly identical to Computer Engineering in terms of curriculum and placements.
- Key Focus: Cloud Computing, Network Security, and Web Technologies.
Electronics & Telecommunication (ENTC)
While it is an electronics branch, PICT’s ENTC department is heavily geared towards "Embedded Systems" and "Software Integration."
- FindUrCollege Insight: Most ENTC students at PICT get placed in top software firms like Amazon and Microsoft alongside CSE students.
Admission Process — 6 Steps (PICT Pune 2026)
PICT Computer Engineering requires near-perfect MHT-CET performance: target 99.7+ percentile for CE, with 99.5+ keeping IT and AI & Data Science in range. Intensive preparation on Mathematics (150 marks) and Physics/Chemistry is essential. Practise with official MHT-CET previous-year papers and full-length PCM mock tests for targeted preparation.
CAP registration and document upload happen on the official portal — fe2026.mahacet.org for the 2026 cycle — inside the notified window. If the CAP registration window has closed, the institute-level / ACAP route (application directly to PICT, last date 8 September 2026) is the remaining path. Round-wise dates for all four CAP rounds are kept current on our MHT-CET CAP 2026 counselling schedule.
Attend CAP facilitation centre for physical document verification. Bring originals plus self-attested copies of all certificates. This step is mandatory to confirm your CAP registration.
PICT's DTE/MHT-CET CAP institute code is 06271. Add PICT CSE, IT, AI and DS in preference order. List the branches in true preference order — the CAP option form is read top-down, so a lower preference is only reached once every choice above it is exhausted.
PICT seats fill in Round 1 or early Round 2. If allotted, immediately complete the seat-acceptance (self ARC) step to freeze your seat: PICT's official CAP reporting notice states that college reporting is strictly for candidates whose allotted seat status is Auto Freezed or Self Freezed — nobody else needs to proceed with reporting at PICT. For the management quota, apply through PICT's own online Institute Level application (last date 8 September 2026).
Report to PICT campus at Dhankawadi, South Pune. PICT's official reporting flow has nine stages: online pre-reporting form → college gate entry → digital (online) cross-verification → physical document scrutiny → MIS entry and fee payment → fee reconciliation → CET Cell final confirmation and admission letter → feedback and exit pass → hostel inquiry. Carry all originals plus one set of photocopies (EWS and TFWS candidates: two sets), keep every uploaded soft copy under 1 MB (passport photo under 30 KB), and have your antiragging.in undertaking reference number ready — it is a mandatory field on the student information form. Only one parent or guardian is allowed inside the reporting centre, and the full fee must be paid at the time of reporting. PICT's AISHE code for the anti-ragging affidavit is C-42072. A live admission tracker shows your queue position during physical reporting.

Expert Tips — PICT Pune Admission 2026
FindUrCollege counselling team shares five expert tips for PICT aspirants based on years of counselling experience:
With the Computer Engineering closing percentile at 99.71 (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science 99.62, Information Technology 99.60), PICT is a reach target for most students. PICT’s CAP Round-I 2025 closings ran from 99.30 (Electronics & Telecommunication) up to 99.71 (Computer Engineering), so below roughly 99.3 every PICT branch is a reach. If your percentile sits under that, keep PICT as an aspirational choice but place realistic backups such as VIT Pune and PCCOE below it in the same option form. Never submit a preference list whose only top-tier entry is PICT.
Even PICT management quota seats fill within days of CAP Round 1 results. Students considering management quota should have their decision made before MHT-CET results — as soon as results are announced, contact PICT admissions and FindUrCollege simultaneously at +91 91126 50438 to check seat status and initiate the process immediately.
PICT student culture revolves around competitive programming. Start practising on LeetCode and Codeforces before joining. Students who join PICT with strong DSA foundations perform significantly better in internal contests and placements.
If CSE at PICT is not secured, IT and AI & Data Science at PICT (lower cutoffs by roughly 0.1–0.16 percentile) have very similar placement outcomes — official 2023-24 branch averages: CE ₹14.5 LPA, IT ₹13.8 LPA.
PICT alumni are concentrated in Pune IT companies (Persistent Systems, KPIT, Synechron, Capgemini, Zensar) and global product companies (Google, Microsoft, Amazon). Connect with PICT seniors on LinkedIn before joining. Alumni provide invaluable advice on course selection, professor recommendations, internship leads, and placements.
Academic Life at PICT: A Four-Year Journey
Life at Pune Institute of Computer Technology is defined by rigorous academics, strong peer culture, and a laser focus on industry readiness. Students entering PICT are already among Maharashtra's top performers, having secured percentiles above 99 in MHT-CET. This creates a uniquely competitive yet collaborative learning environment where benchmarks are constantly being reset.
In the first year, students undergo a foundation curriculum covering programming fundamentals in C and Python, discrete mathematics, digital electronics, and engineering mathematics. The CS department introduces data structures early — by semester two, students are already implementing linked lists, trees, and graph algorithms in C. Laboratory sessions run six hours per week in the first year itself, ensuring hands-on skill development from day one.
By second year, the curriculum deepens with subjects like Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Database Management Systems, Object-Oriented Programming with Java, and Computer Organization. Students start joining departmental technical clubs — CodeChef chapter, PICT ACM Student Chapter, and the CSI student chapter. The second year also sees many students begin their competitive programming journey on platforms like Codeforces, LeetCode, and HackerRank.
Third year is when placement preparation intensifies — aptitude training, mock interviews, and the first internship and pre-placement drives begin.
The final year at PICT involves capstone projects and final placements.
Research, Innovation, and Centres of Excellence
PICT has established itself not just as a teaching institution but increasingly as a research-active college. The institution runs several Centres of Excellence (CoE) in collaboration with industry partners. The CoE for Data Science and Machine Learning, established with IBM's academic partnership, provides students access to cloud computing resources, AI toolkits, and structured certification pathways. Students trained here have won national-level hackathons including Smart India Hackathon (SIH) multiple times.
The CoE for Cybersecurity provides specialized labs with tools like Kali Linux, Metasploit, Wireshark, and penetration testing environments. This center is particularly relevant given the growing demand for information security professionals. PICT graduates with cybersecurity specialization have joined firms like Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, and government cybersecurity agencies. Many students have completed AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Azure Fundamentals certifications by their third year, significantly strengthening their placements.
PICT's faculty and students publish research in peer-reviewed IEEE, Elsevier and Springer venues. Confirm the institute's current research output and any institute-hosted conferences with the college.
Why PICT Pune is the Right Choice
For students who are serious about a career in software engineering, product development, or research, PICT offers a unique combination of high academic standards, excellent peer quality, strong official 2023-24 placement outcomes from PICT T&P and a 2024-25 placement cycle still marked in progress.
The PICT alumni network is particularly valuable. Alumni working at Google, Microsoft, Amazon, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and top startups actively return for recruitment drives and mentorship sessions. The alumni association organizes an annual alumni meet where current students can network with established professionals across the world.
PICT's location in Dhankawadi, Pune — within easy reach of Hadapsar IT park, Magarpatta City, and Pune's Hinjewadi — means students can attend industry events, tech meetups, and company visits regularly throughout their four years. The Pune tech ecosystem is one of India's most vibrant, and PICT students are deeply embedded in it.
For parents evaluating value-for-money in engineering education, PICT's state merit fee of Rs 1,23,000 per year is extraordinarily competitive given its official 2023-24 PICT T&P outcomes.
Students interested in product-based company careers, FAANG-level interviews, or competitive programming should seriously consider PICT CE/IT/AI when allocating preferences during Maharashtra CAP rounds. If COEP CSE or AI is available, compare COEP first; if the COEP option is a non-preferred core branch, PICT Computer Engineering or IT can be the stronger software-career choice. For personalised PICT admission guidance including management-quota strategy and preference filling, contact FindUrCollege at +91 91126 50438.
Campus Culture: "Studious but Rewarding"
PICT is known for being a "Strict" college. Attendance is taken seriously, and the academic schedule is tight.
- Fests: 'Addiction' (Cultural) and 'Credenz' (Technical) are the highlights. Credenz is organized by the IEEE Student Branch and is one of Pune’s most respected tech fests.
- Clubs: The PICT ACM Student Chapter and IEEE PICT are the most active clubs, fostering a competitive coding environment.
- Environment: The campus is compact but highly functional, with a state-of-the-art library and labs that are open late for project work.
PICT vs. COEP vs. VJTI
This is a common dilemma for toppers.
- COEP (Pune): Best for government brand, CSE/AI if your score clears the very high cutoff, and students who want a broader public-university campus.
- VJTI (Mumbai): Best for Brand Value in Mumbai.
- PICT (Pune): Best for someone who is 100% sure they want to be a Software Engineer and wants a focused, distraction-free environment.

Official source: Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell, Cut Off List for Maharashtra & Minority Seats of CAP Round I, A.Y. 2026–27, captured 10 August 2026. Figures are the closing merit number, with the closing percentile beneath. Confirm on the CET Cell’s own list before locking your preference order.
How to read these numbers
| Category | Reading note |
|---|---|
| Open GOPENS | The general merit list. Every candidate is considered here regardless of category. |
| OBC GOBCS | OBC seats. A candidate may also clear on the Open list if the rank is good enough. |
| SEBC GSEBCS | SEBC seats, separate from OBC — the two are not interchangeable. |
| EWS EWS | EWS needs a valid income and asset certificate for the current year. |
| SC GSCS | SC seats. Caste certificate and validity are checked at document scrutiny. |
| ST GSTS | ST seats. Usually the widest closing rank, but the seat count is the smallest. |
| TFWS TFWS | Tuition Fee Waiver — income-linked, and the seats are a small fixed share. |
A lower number is a harder seat. CAP allots against the Maharashtra State General Merit Number, not a percentile, so merit number 929 means the last candidate admitted to Computer Engineering on the Open list stood 929th in the state. Round 1 is the tightest round of the season — later rounds usually close at a higher number, so a rank slightly outside these figures is not out of the running. A dash means that category had no published cut-off for that course in Round 1; it does not mean the seat does not exist.
PICT first-year fees 2026–27 — what you actually pay, by category
In one line: the widely quoted ₹1,23,000 is tuition and development only — an Open (Maharashtra) candidate pays ₹135,086 in year one once SPPU, examination and eligibility fees and the refundable deposit are added.

*Caution money is refundable and one-time. It is inside the total because PICT
prints it there, but it is a deposit, not a cost — do not treat it as money spent.
“Not charged” means exactly that, not a figure we could not find.
Where PICT prints 0.00 for a category, that head is waived for it.
These are FIRST-YEAR figures and nothing here should be multiplied. PICT does
not state that the same amount repeats each academic year, and its FRA page carries a printed
caveat that tuition and development are subject to revision pending a Review Application to the
Fees Regulating Authority.
Why two management figures appear. The FRA page shows a Management / NRI
seat-fee line of ₹2,00,000, while the international-category page totals the same six
heads at ₹2,12,570 for its combined Management / NRI / OCI / FN column. They are not
interchangeable totals and neither is a projection of the other — the written demand for
your allotted route is the payment reference.

PICT placements — the five-year trend, and how to read it
In one line: PICT’s placement percentage has fallen for two completed years running — 93.15% to 88.55% — while the ongoing 2025–26 drive stands at 80.66% with the season still open.
| Academic year | Students enrolled | Students placed | Placement % |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2021-22 | 730 | 671 | 91.91% |
| 2022-23 | 755 | 707 | 93.64% |
| 2023-24 | 760 | 708 | 93.15% |
| 2024-25 | 775 | 680 | 88.55% |
| 2025-26 ongoing | 812 | 608 | 80.66% |
Official source: PICT Training & Placement Department, placement statistics published at pict.edu/placement, captured 11 August 2026.
The 2025–26 cycle has not closed. 608
of 812 students are placed so far, with
165 recruiters having visited. It is a snapshot of a drive in progress
and should not be compared against a completed year — a partial season always reads low.
Enrolment rose every year while the percentage fell. The graduating batch went
730 → 755 → 760 → 775 → 812 across the same five years. More students are
chasing offers, which moves the percentage even when the number of offers holds — 708
placed in 2023–24 against 680 in 2024–25 is a smaller gap than the percentages
suggest.
The highest package is one student. PICT reports a highest package of
₹53.35 LPA for the ongoing cycle. That is a single outcome and
tells you nothing about what a typical graduate receives. PICT does not publish a median on
this page, so we do not state one — and a college that quotes only a highest package
should not be compared against one that publishes a median.
PICT’s own page shows two figures for the same cycle —
610 placed on its headline card and
608 on its trend chart. They are not interchangeable and we do
not average them; the chart figure is used above because the rest of the series comes from it.
Two of these percentages do not follow from the columns beside them.
2021–22, 2022–23 and 2023–24 reconcile exactly. For 2024–25, 680 of
775 is 87.74% against the 88.55% PICT prints; for the ongoing 2025–26 cycle, 608 of
812 is 74.88% against 80.66%. The percentage is evidently taken on a base PICT does not
publish — eligible rather than enrolled students would explain it. We print
PICT’s figures unchanged and flag the gap rather than recompute them, because
guessing the base would be inventing a number. Ask the institute which base its
percentage uses before relying on it.
PICT All-India CAP Round 1 cut-offs 2026 — and how they differ from the state list
In one line: the All-India quota closes at a lower merit number than the Maharashtra state list at PICT — Computer Engineering at 676 against 929 — because it is a smaller pool competing for fewer seats, and the two lists are ranked separately.
| Course | All-India CAP R1 | Maharashtra State (Open) |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Engineering | 67698.92 | 92999.79 |
| Information Technology | 1,06698.53 | 1,37899.68 |
| Electronics and Computer Engineering | 1,18498.40 | 1,78999.59 |
| Electronics and Telecommunication Engg | 1,71797.97 | 2,38299.45 |

These two numbers are not comparable to each other, and you cannot choose which list you appear on. The All-India seats are filled on the All-India merit list from a JEE Main score; the state seats are filled on the Maharashtra State General Merit Number from MHT-CET. Which list applies to you follows from your domicile and the exam you took, not from preference. Read the row that matches your route — comparing your MHT-CET rank against the All-India column is the most common way to misjudge a chance here. A dash means that course had no published cut-off on that list in Round 1.
