Why Choose Delhi NCR for Engineering in 2026?
📌 In one line: the practical reason to look at NCR is that four separate counselling systems operate within about an hour of each other, and your rank is worth different things in each.
Within that radius you have JAC Delhi (DTU, NSUT, IIIT-Delhi, IGDTUW, DSEU), GGSIPU counselling (the IP University colleges), UPTAC/AKTU (the Noida and Ghaziabad affiliated colleges) and the private universities admitting on their own tests or Class 12 merit. A serious NCR shortlist means registering for more than one of them — different portals, different dates, different documents.
One caution before the company names below persuade you of anything: proximity to an office is not proximity to a job. A company recruits from a college because it visits that college, and which companies visit is published in the college's own placement report. Check that list for the specific college, not the skyline around it.
Two of these names are worth getting right, because a student choosing between a Gurugram and a Noida college sometimes chooses on them. MakeMyTrip is genuinely a Gurugram company — its SEC filings give its principal executive offices at DLF Cyber City, Gurugram. Paytm is not: One97 Communications publishes its registered office at Nehru Place, New Delhi and its corporate headquarters at Sector 98, Noida. Zomato is now a brand inside Eternal Limited, whose exchange filings give a New Delhi registered address, though it signs from Gurugram. On the Noida side, Samsung’s mobile plant there is real and large — Samsung’s own newsroom describes it as the world’s largest mobile factory, taking Noida capacity to 120 million units a year — but “India’s leading mobile manufacturing hub” is not something the government’s own account of the sector says: the PIB briefing names Tamil Nadu when it names a state.
NCR spans state universities admitting through JAC Delhi (DTU, NSUT, IIIT-Delhi, IGDTUW), private universities running their own admissions (Shiv Nadar, Bennett, Amity), and colleges affiliated to IP University or AKTU that admit through state counselling.
The sheer volume of companies in NCR means placement drives are larger, and off-campus internship opportunities are available year-round across every tech domain.

1. Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida
A highly reputed deemed-to-be university in Sector-62 and Sector-128, Noida. Fee, from JIIT's own 2026-27 structure: ₹3,79,000 in year 1, rising to ₹3,98,000, ₹4,18,000 and ₹4,39,000 — ₹16,34,000 over four years. Placements for the 2026 batch: average ₹11.15 lakh, median ₹7.01 lakh, 474 companies, highest ₹94.25 lakh from LinkedIn. Note the ₹4.14 lakh gap between average and median — half the placed students were at or below ₹7.01 lakh. Admission: 50% of seats on JEE Main rank and 50% on Class 12 merit, run as two separate admissions with separate forms, fees and counselling dates — and the 12th-merit route does not need 95%: JIIT's own AY 2026-27 cut-off table opened Sector 62 CSE at 94.33%, Sector 128 CSE at 87.33%, Sector 62 ECE at 86.00% and Sector 62 EE (VLSI) at 84.00%. Students priced out of Noida often look at JIIT's lower-fee sister campuses — JUET Guna B.Tech (Madhya Pradesh) and Jaypee University Anoopshahr (western UP).
📋 JAC Delhi 2026 — Separate from JoSAA, Single Registration Window
The single most-confused admission rule in Delhi NCR engineering: JAC Delhi (Joint Admission Committee, Delhi) is a completely separate counselling process from JoSAA. Critical 2026 facts:
- Universities under JAC Delhi: DTU (Delhi Technological University), NSUT (Netaji Subhas University of Technology), IIIT-Delhi (Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology), IGDTUW (Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women — women-only), and DSEU (Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University).
- Selection — and IIIT-Delhi is the exception. There is no separate exam, but the four institutions are not all on the same basis. DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW and DSEU admit on the JEE Main Common Rank List. IIIT-Delhi admits on the JEE Main percentile score plus up to two bonus points for Olympiads, programming contests, National Talent Search, sports, culture, chess and innovation — including one bonus point for girl candidates scoring 90% overall with 95% in PCM. If you are claiming a bonus point, note that it needs verification on a fixed date at NSUT, which in 2026 was 10 June. There is also a Class 12 floor of 60% in aggregate for everyone.
- Registration windows — and the 2026 dates, because “mid-June” would have cost you the cycle. Registration and choice filling opened on 28 May 2026 and closed on 9 June. A second three-day window ran 26 to 28 June, before Round 2, for candidates who had missed the first. So plan for late May, and do not assume one window. Where the “miss it and you miss everything” warning does hold is the spot rounds: DTU's notice states that no fresh registration is permitted for its Special Spot Round, and NSUT said the same for B.Tech.
- 85% Delhi Region quota: Reserved for candidates who passed Class 12 from a school physically located within the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, regardless of permanent home address. A student living in Noida who attended a Delhi school qualifies as a Delhi Region candidate. A student living in Delhi who attended a school in Faridabad does NOT qualify.
- 15% Outside Delhi Region: Reserved for candidates who passed Class 12 from schools outside NCT Delhi. This is the only realistic JAC Delhi pathway for non-NCT-school students.
- JoSAA difference: JAC Delhi is exclusively for the five Delhi government universities listed above; JoSAA covers the IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs nationwide. One correction worth making, because most Delhi pages get it wrong and it costs readers an option: JoSAA covers at least two institutes physically inside Delhi, not just IIT Delhi. NIT Delhi is an Institute of National Importance in Delhi that admits to B.Tech on JEE Main alone, with no JEE Advanced requirement — which makes it more relevant to most readers of this page than IIT Delhi is.
🎯 GGSIPU 2026 — JEE Main Paper 1 Only (No IPU CET for B.Tech Regular)
Many older guides still say “IPU CET for B.Tech”. That is out of date. What GGSIPU's own 2026-27 admission brochure says:
- B.Tech regular admission: 100% based on JEE Main Paper 1 ranks. There is no IPU CET pathway for regular B.Tech.
- IPU CET is only conducted for: (1) Lateral Entry — direct admission to 2nd year B.Tech for diploma holders; (2) B.Tech Biotechnology specifically; (3) certain Allied Health and Pharma programmes.
- GGSIPU's 85% Delhi quota works the same way as JAC Delhi's for regular B.Tech. The clause that governs the split at the non-minority colleges named below reads: “85% seats are reserved for Delhi Region Candidates, i.e. those who have passed the qualifying examination from any school/Institute located in NCT of Delhi”, with the remaining 15% for candidates who passed from outside Delhi. Since the qualifying examination for regular B.Tech is Class 12, that is in practice the same test JAC Delhi applies.
- Where you live is irrelevant at both. Region is decided by where you sat the qualifying examination, and GGSIPU says so explicitly: an Outside Delhi Region candidate stays Outside Delhi “even if he/she is residing in Delhi”. If you studied through open schooling, the tie-breaker differs slightly — GGSIPU goes by the location of your Distance or Open-Education study centre and expects you to prove it, while JAC Delhi goes by your centre of examination for Patrachar Vidyalaya or NIOS.
- Two caveats worth knowing before you rely on the 85:15 split. First, it is written for non-minority colleges; for a minority institution the brochure says instead that “the seats would be allocated as per policy of Govt. of NCT of Delhi” for minority-status institutions. None of the colleges named below is a minority institution, so the split holds for them. Second, GGSIPU's general definition elsewhere in the brochure is wider than the allocation clause — it also counts a candidate who passed the qualifying examination “from any college / institute affiliated to GGSIP University”. The two passages are worded differently and we are not going to pick one for you; what matters here is that the wider limb cannot help a regular B.Tech applicant, because no GGSIPU-affiliated college awards a Class 12 qualifying examination. It reaches the programmes whose entry qualification is itself a degree or diploma — B.Tech Lateral Entry, MBA, MCA, M.Tech, LLM and B.Ed.
- Top GGSIPU-affiliated colleges (private, JEE-Main-based): USICT (university-school of IT, main campus); MAIT (Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Rohini); MSIT (Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology, Janakpuri); BPIT (Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology, Rohini); BVCOE (Bharati Vidyapeeth, Paschim Vihar); HMRITM (HMR Institute of Technology & Management).
- Strategy for JEE rank 60,000–1,50,000: GGSIPU is the strongest Delhi-NCR option for this rank band. Read the recruiter claims for these colleges carefully. USICT's own Placement Report 2025-26 gives an average of ₹6.72 lakh across 280 offers, with Infosys, Oracle, C-Vent, Salescode.Ai and TCIL at the top of its recruiter table — Microsoft, Adobe, Goldman Sachs and Amazon appear on that report only under “our prestigious alumni”, which is a list of where former students now work, not of who recruits on campus. MAIT's own 2025-batch report does show Amazon (12 offers at ₹54 lakh) and Adobe (9 offers at ₹8 lakh), and MAIT itself says one Microsoft offer was made. MSIT names Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Adobe on its placements page but publishes no offer counts. That distinction — recruiters versus alumni employers, and offers versus names — is the single most useful thing to check on any college's placement page.
- The sliding round — and the condition that decides whether you can use it. GGSIPU runs a sliding round after the last round of regular centralised counselling, letting a candidate move up if seats open. Three corrections to how it is usually described: it is not fixed at “after two rounds” (in 2026 B.Tech counselling ran well past two, with a Spot Round 2 online, a Spot Round 3 offline, a vacancy position published on 28 August and a final offline registration opportunity on 7 September); it is not unique to B.Tech; and only candidates who have already been allotted a seat and have paid for it can slide. If you are holding out for a better college without accepting and paying for the one you have, the sliding round is not available to you.
🎓 Shiv Nadar — five admission routes, and no JEE percentile bar at all
📌 In one line: the “96+ percentile needed for CSE” figure that circulates for Shiv Nadar appears in none of its own documents — the only B.Tech bar it publishes is 65% in Class 12.
- Institution of Eminence — confirmed, and the name has changed with it. The UGC's Institutions of Eminence list carries “Shiv Nadar (Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University)”, notified 3 August 2022 — one of only four private institutions on a list of twelve, alongside BITS Pilani, Manipal Academy of Higher Education and O P Jindal Global University. Its own admissions material now calls it “Shiv Nadar (Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR”; “Shiv Nadar University” is the older name. Backed by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, in Greater Noida.
- Five routes into the School of Engineering, not two — and JEE is listed first. Route 1 is JEE Main 2026 or 2025. Route 2 is SNUSAT + APT. Route 3 is the College Board SAT, Route 4 the ACT, and Route 5 is CUET 2026 with an interview. Calling SNUSAT the “primary” route reverses Shiv Nadar's own ordering and hides the SAT, ACT and CUET routes entirely.
- The only published eligibility bar is a Class 12 aggregate: 65%, including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and it is the same 65% across every B.Tech branch. Shiv Nadar publishes no JEE percentile requirement anywhere. The percentile numbers that circulate for it are, in fact, its scholarship thresholds read as if they were entry bars — its own wording is that a candidate admitted through JEE Main scoring above 98 percentile “may be eligible for 100% tuition fee waiver” and one between 95 and 98 “may be considered for 50%”. Those are about money, not about qualifying. If you are at 90 percentile, you are not ruled out.
- The tests, correctly: SNUSAT measures quantitative and logical reasoning — not verbal or abstract — with 20 questions and 45 minutes for each, 90 minutes in all. The APT is 60 minutes, not 90: Mathematics 20 questions in 30 minutes, Physics 20 questions in 30 minutes. And the claim that the JEE route closes earlier is not supported: Shiv Nadar sets one application deadline per phase covering every route.
- Five B.Tech branches: Chemical, Civil, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical. There is no separate “ECE” and “EE”.
- SNU 2026 fees: ₹3.5L–₹4.5L/year tuition; total 4-year tuition ₹14–18 lakh. Mandatory residence ~₹2.0L/year.
- Placements: Shiv Nadar publishes a School of Engineering average of ₹12.85 LPA for 2024-25, with the top 20% averaging ₹21.44 LPA and the highest offers above ₹58 LPA. Read the gap between those first two figures rather than the second one alone: the top fifth of the cohort earns roughly 1.7 times the school average, which is what an average conceals and a median would not.

📍 Knowledge Park (Greater Noida) Student Hub Map
Greater Noida's Knowledge Park I, II and III host one of India's densest concentrations of private engineering and management colleges. The cluster:
- Knowledge Park I: Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Galgotias University (independent), IIMT.
- Knowledge Park II: Bennett University, Sharda University, GL Bajaj, IILM, IIMT-Engineering.
- Knowledge Park III: Galgotias University (newer block), Lloyd Institute, ISBM College.
- Pari Chowk (close to Knowledge Park): Shiv Nadar University, Amity Greater Noida, Bennett, Galgotias University.
- On rent, be careful what you are reading. No government body publishes a rent figure for an NCR neighbourhood — NHB RESIDEX tracks residential sale-price movement across 50 cities, and MoSPI's House Rent Index is a state-level index number, neither of which is rupees per month for Knowledge Park, and neither covers student paying-guest accommodation at all. Greater Noida is widely reported as the cheaper end of NCR, but any figure you see for it, here or anywhere, is a quote rather than a statistic. Budget from your college's own published hostel and mess fee, and get any off-campus figure in writing from that specific PG.
- Aqua Line Metro: Connects Greater Noida to Noida and onward to Delhi via Blue Line interchange. Knowledge Park stations: Knowledge Park-II, Pari Chowk.
For non-Delhi-NCT students with mid-tier JEE percentiles (60–90), Knowledge Park colleges (Bennett, Galgotias, Sharda, GL Bajaj) offer a viable alternative to GGSIPU at modest fees with active recruiter footfall from Noida and Greater Noida tech parks.
🏢 Jaypee JIIT — Sector 62 vs Sector 128 Campus Distinction
- What JIIT actually publishes per campus. Its admission brochure gives one undivided CSE figure — 1,140 seats across Sectors 62 and 128 together. It publishes no per-campus CSE intake, and no per-campus placement metric either, so the widely quoted "720 at Sector 62, 480 at Sector 128" split decomposes nothing JIIT prints (and sums to 60 more than its published total). What IS campus-specific is the branch list: Sector 62 has ECE (240), Mathematics & Computing (180), Robotics and AI (120), EC Advanced Communication Technology (60), EE VLSI (60), Biotechnology (60), Biotechnology Bioinformatics (60) and IT (60); Sector 128 has Electronics and Computer Engineering (120) and CSE (Cyber Security).
- Where the campuses genuinely differ is the cut-off, and JIIT publishes it: on the Class 12 merit route for AY 2026-27, Sector 62 CSE opened at 94.33% and Sector 128 CSE at 87.33%. That seven-point gap is the real distinction between the two, and it is in JIIT's own table rather than in anyone's impression of the campuses.
- Admission: 50% of seats on JEE Main (All India Rank 2026) and 50% on Class 12 merit, in JIIT's own counselling. Vacant seats are transferable between the two categories in either direction. The fee is the same at both campuses: ₹3,79,000 in year 1 rising to ₹4,39,000 in year 4, ₹16,34,000 in total.
- Placements — and a distinction JIIT itself makes that most pages miss: JIIT runs placement centrally across JIIT Noida, JUIT Solan, JUET Guna and JU Anoopshahr, so there is no Sector 62 placement figure to quote. For the 2026 batch JIIT publishes an average of ₹11.15 lakh and a median of ₹7.01 lakh — a gap of ₹4.14 lakh, meaning half the placed students were at or below ₹7.01 lakh. Its published recruiter list includes Microsoft India, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Google India, LinkedIn, Atlassian and American Express; Adobe and Intuit are not on it.

If your rank reaches either campus, weigh the difference JIIT itself publishes — the seven-point gap in the Class 12 cut-off, and an identical fee — rather than a ranking of the two campuses that JIIT does not make.
🏠 Cost of Living — Delhi vs Noida vs Gurgaon Engineering Students
- Delhi (Munirka, Katwaria Sarai for DTU/NSUT, Vasundhara Enclave for Bharati Vidyapeeth): Single-sharing PG ₹14,000–₹20,000/month; twin-sharing ₹10,000–₹13,000. Highest student PG costs in NCR but unmatched Delhi Metro connectivity.
- Noida Sectors 62/63 (JIIT Sector 62, MAIT/Adobe corridor): ₹11,000–₹14,000 single; ₹7,500–₹10,000 twin. Adobe, R Systems and Samsung all run Noida offices within reach of this corridor.
- Noida Sectors 125/142 (Bennett, Sharda, JIIT 128): ₹10,000–₹13,000 single; ₹7,000–₹9,500 twin. Tata Capital, Paytm, BharatPe nearby.
- Greater Noida (SNU, Bennett, Galgotias): ₹8,000–₹12,000 single; ₹6,500–₹8,500 twin. Most affordable. Aqua Line Metro to Noida → Delhi.
- Gurgaon Sectors 14/57 (BML Munjal, NorthCap): ₹14,000–₹18,000 single; ₹10,000–₹13,000 twin. Cyber City, DLF Phase 2/3 corporate proximity.
- Food + transport + miscellaneous: ₹4,500–₹7,500/month across all NCR locations.
- Winter air — what CPCB actually records. The air is genuinely bad from November to January and worth planning for, but it is mostly “Very Poor”, not “Severe”, and it differs across NCR. CPCB's own bands are Good 0–50, Satisfactory 51–100, Moderate 101–200, Poor 201–300, Very Poor 301–400 and Severe above 401. Across six mid-winter daily bulletins the NCR city readings ran from 198 to 419 — and only two of those 36 readings crossed into Severe (Delhi 419 on 20 November 2024, Greater Noida 418 on 15 November 2025). For scale over a whole year, CPCB's bulletin of 1 December 2025 counts Delhi's 335 days from 1 January: no Good days, 79 Satisfactory, 121 Moderate, 82 Poor, 50 Very Poor and 3 Severe. Budget for an air purifier and N95 masks for the winter stretch, and check whether your hostel room allows a purifier. If you have asthma or any respiratory condition, this belongs in the decision itself — raise it with your doctor before you accept a seat, because you will be living in those months. 📊 Realistic 2025-26 Placement Reality Across NCR
- IIT Delhi: publishes no CSE-specific salary — and, in its own placement brochure, no salary figure of any kind. That brochure gives a sector split and programme charts; the words LPA, CTC, median and average do not appear in it. The one salary IIT Delhi puts its name to is in NIRF: a median of ₹19,08,000 for the four-year UG cohort graduating in 2023-24, with 711 of 946 placed and 49 in higher studies — which leaves 186 graduates in neither column.
- DTU: publishes no median at all. Its own 2024-25 sheet gives branch averages — Computer Engineering ₹19.85 lakh across 371 offers against 496 students registered for placement, Software Engineering ₹18.46 lakh, IT ₹16.62 lakh, and Mechanical ₹9.58 lakh. Read those two columns carefully: “offers” is not “students placed” and “registered for placement” is not the class size, so no placement rate can be worked out from that sheet. DTU's NIRF filing covers the whole B.Tech cohort and gives a median of ₹13,25,000, 1,759 of 2,412 placed (72.9%), 653 in higher studies.
- NSUT — and its own two documents disagree. Its Training & Placement site gives a median of ₹14.00 lakh for 2025-26 (highest ₹96 lakh, average ₹17.17 lakh, lowest ₹4 lakh). For 2023-24 that same site says ₹14.18 lakh while NSUT's NIRF submission for the same year says ₹16,50,000 — a gap of ₹2.32 lakh, with 1,362 of 1,725 placed. Neither document states its scope precisely enough to reconcile them, so we print both. Note also that NSUT's homepage headline “₹1.05 Cr highest package” carries no batch year and belongs to 2023-24, not to the current cycle, whose highest was ₹96 lakh.
- IIIT-Delhi is the one institution here that publishes a CSE placement percentage, and it is high: 98.26% for B.Tech CSE in the 2026 batch. But its salary figure is programme-wide, not CSE: average B.Tech ₹20.53 LPA (₹21.00 LPA for the 2025 batch, its highest of the last three). The campus-wide placement rate is 91.42%, not 95%+ — the gap between that and the CSE figure is ECE at 69.70%, which is worth knowing if ECE is your branch.
- Shiv Nadar University: School of Engineering average ₹12.85 LPA; top 20% average ₹21.44 LPA.
- USICT, MAIT and MSIT publish no median and no placement rate — and none of the three is ranked or banded in NIRF Engineering, so no NIRF median exists for them either. What does exist is USICT's own Placement Report 2025-26: an average of ₹6.72 lakh across 280 offers, with Infosys, Oracle, C-Vent and TCIL at the top of its recruiter table. MAIT publishes offer counts and recruiter names but no salary distribution. If you are shown a “median CSE package” for any of these three, ask which document it came from.
- JIIT reports centrally for all four Jaypee institutions, so there is no Sector 62 figure: median ₹7.01 lakh, average ₹11.15 lakh for the 2026 batch.
- Bennett University publishes a highest package of ₹62 lakh for 2025 (₹1.37 crore was 2023) and no average we could source.
- Amity Noida: median ₹6,00,000, 589 of 1,033 placed in 2023-24 — 57%, down from 85.5% the year before, on Amity's own numbers.
- Galgotias, Sharda and GL Bajaj publish no average or placement rate we could trace to their own documents, so we are not going to print one.
Be sceptical of any college advertising an "excellent placement record" without a number attached — the phrase costs nothing to print and commits the college to nothing. Always verify the median and the placement rate from the college's own placement brochure before locking your admission — and check what the denominator is, because “placed out of those who registered” and “placed out of the graduating class” can differ by twenty points at the same college.

2. Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), Delhi
An IPU-affiliated college in Rohini, Delhi, and the one with the lowest JEE Main closing ranks among the IPU private colleges in recent counselling rounds. MAIT publishes no average package; its NIRF submission gives a median of ₹6,00,000 for each of the last three batches, with 816 of 1,120 placed in 2024-25 — 72.9%. On the rank you need, be careful: the figures that circulate are roughly half the truth, in the direction that turns people away. GGSIPU's own Round-3 cut-off report for 2026 shows MAIT Computer Science (Shift I) closing at rank 97,331 for General Delhi-region candidates and 58,737 for General outside-Delhi candidates. If you were told you needed to be under 45,000, that was wrong by more than fifty thousand ranks. Management quota: 10% of seats, under the Delhi Professional Colleges Act 2007.

3. Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence (SNU), Greater Noida
Backed by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, SNU runs a B.Tech with a substantial liberal-arts core requirement on its Greater Noida campus. Admission: SNUSAT + APT or JEE Main. Average engineering placement: ₹12.85 LPA (verified 2024–25). Total 4-year tuition and living costs: approximately ₹24–34 Lakhs, the top of the range being CSE and ECE.
4. The Ghaziabad Tech Belt: AKGEC, KIET, ABES
These three AKTU-affiliated colleges are among the larger engineering intakes in western UP and are the ones most often shortlisted alongside the Delhi options. On salary, use the medians they file rather than the averages that circulate: AKGEC ₹5,90,000 (983 of 1,049 placed, 2024-25) and KIET ₹4,50,000 (1,019 of 1,261 placed, 2023-24). ABES publishes no comparable figure. Both medians have been rising, and both are well below the ₹6.50–7.50 lakh band usually quoted for this belt. On seats, UP permits 15% of sanctioned seats in private institutions to be filled by management or NRI candidates — one combined quota, not two — with the remaining 85% through counselling, and the quota filled within fifteen days of counselling closing. Note also that a UP management-quota seat forfeits the state fee-reimbursement scheme entirely.

5. Private Universities: Amity (Noida), Bennett & Galgotias
Bennett University (founded by the Times Group) prices its core CSE at ₹3,80,000 in year 1, rising to ₹4,00,000, with a four-year total of ₹15,70,000. Its other core branches are cheaper at ₹14,90,000 total. If you are searching for “Bennett CSE core” fees specifically, that is the ₹15,70,000 programme — the higher figures belong to the AI and Cyber Security tracks. The ₹4.20–4.50 lakh band often quoted for “Bennett CSE” actually belongs to its specialised tracks — B.Tech Artificial Intelligence (₹18,55,000 total) and the CSE Cyber Security programme co-delivered with KPMG and Macquarie University. On placements, Bennett's own three-year record gives its highest package as ₹1.37 crore in 2023, ₹51 lakh in 2024 and ₹62 lakh in 2025 — so a page telling you Bennett's offers “cross ₹1 crore” in 2025 is moving a three-year-old figure forward. Amity University Noida reports, in its own NIRF submission, a median of ₹6,00,000 and 589 of 1,033 placed in 2023-24 — 57%, down from 85.5% the year before. That decline is Amity's own reported figure, and any “90-95% placement” claim conceals it. Both admit on Class 12 merit with no JEE minimum, but each sets its own subject rules — Bennett wants Physics and Mathematics plus a non-vocational third subject at 55%, Amity wants 60% overall with 70% across Physics, Mathematics and a third subject. On the Gurugram side of NCR, K.R. Mangalam University, Gurugram (B.Tech, BBA, BCA & MBA admissions) is another private-university option worth shortlisting.

Delhi NCR B.Tech Admission Pathways 2026
Delhi NCR engineering admissions are diverse with multiple parallel processes. Knowing each pathway's eligibility, timing, and seat availability is critical.
JAC Delhi (Joint Admission Counselling for DTU/NSUT/IIIT-D/IGDTUW): June-July 2026 based on JEE Main scores. 85% Delhi quota is granted strictly to candidates who passed Class 12 from a school located within the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi — no SDM domicile certificate required. The remaining 15% is the “Outside Delhi Region” quota, and the name matters. It is not an All-India Quota: an All-India Quota is a pool anyone may enter, whereas this one is closed to anyone who passed Class 12 in Delhi. The brochure says each candidate is considered for their region “only” — the two pools are mutually exclusive, so a Delhi-school student does not get a second attempt through it. Application via JoSAA + JAC Delhi separate counselling at jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in.

Delhi NCR's diverse industry composition supports varied engineering specialisations. Choose your branch based on Delhi NCR's hiring patterns.
Computer Science / IT (highest demand): Strong placements at Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Adobe, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs. Delhi NCR has both IT services hubs (Noida, Gurgaon) and product company offices. Average packages: ₹14-22 LPA at top colleges.
AI & Data Science (premium branch): IIIT Delhi has strong AI specialisation. SNU has dedicated AI programme. Top recruiters: Microsoft AI, Google AI, NVIDIA, Adobe. Average packages 5-15% higher than CSE.
📌 On branch-wise salary, be sceptical of anything you are shown. Of every institution on this page, only DTU publishes salary by branch — its 2024-25 sheet gives Computer Engineering an average of ₹19.85 lakh, Software Engineering ₹18.46 lakh, IT ₹16.62 lakh, ECE ₹15.82 lakh, Electrical ₹12.89 lakh, Mechanical ₹9.58 lakh and Civil ₹9.20 lakh. Note the spread: within one university, Computer averages more than twice what Civil does. Everyone else publishes a single institute-wide figure, so a branch-wise table covering NCR cannot be built from official documents, and the bands that used to sit here have been removed.
Information Technology: similar hiring profile to CSE. Recruiters named on the colleges' own placement pages include Persistent, TCS, Wipro and Infosys at their Noida and Gurgaon offices.
Electronics & Communication (E&TC/ECE): NCR has a genuine semiconductor presence (Qualcomm and STMicroelectronics both run Noida offices), and STMicroelectronics appears on JIIT's own recruiter list. Note IIIT-Delhi's own figure though: its ECE placement rate was 69.70% against 98.26% for CSE in the 2026 batch — the widest branch gap any NCR college publishes.
Mechanical Engineering: Limited Delhi NCR opportunities (Maruti Suzuki Manesar, Hero MotoCorp Gurgaon, Honda Cars India). Most relocate to Pune for automotive work. At DTU, the one NCR institution publishing branch salary, Mechanical averaged ₹9.58 lakh against Computer Engineering's ₹19.85 lakh in 2024-25.
Civil Engineering: NCR's smart city initiatives, metro construction, real estate boom support civil engineering. Recruiters include L&T, Shapoorji and NHAI. DTU's 2024-25 sheet puts Civil at an average of ₹9.20 lakh, its lowest branch.
Delhi NCR Engineering — Insider Tips for 2026 Aspirants
Tip 1: For the JAC Delhi 85% quota, your Class 12 school must be in NCT Delhi. 85% of seats at top colleges (DTU, NSUT, IIIT-D, IGDTUW) are reserved for candidates who passed Class 12 from a school located within the National Capital Territory of Delhi. No SDM domicile certificate is required — eligibility is based on the school's location, not on residence proof.
Tip 2: Time the management-quota application to the college type. The private universities (Bennett, Shiv Nadar, Sharda, Galgotias) do open their own admissions early in the year. But at the GGSIPU and AKTU colleges the management-quota window opens after the main counselling, not before it, because both regimes fill the quota from what counselling leaves. In 2026 MSIT issued its forms from 14 to 31 July and ran its counselling on 7 and 9 August; HMRITM published its management-quota admission list on 29 July. On the UPTAC side the rule requires those seats to be filled within fifteen days of the last date of counselling. The costly version of the "apply in April" advice is not that you apply too early — it is that you skip registering for the main counselling, which most of these colleges require you to have done anyway.
Tip 3: Consider IGDTUW for women candidates. Women-only premier engineering institution. Lower competition than DTU/NSUT for women candidates. Strong placements similar to NSUT.
Tip 4: SNU has multiple application phases — but only ONE B.Tech joining batch (August). Shiv Nadar University accepts applications across multiple admission phases (Phase 1 typically opens in January, followed by Phase 2 etc.), but all admitted B.Tech students join the same August academic-year intake. Apply early in Phase 1 for the best scholarship and seat-choice prospects. Bennett similarly runs phased admissions.
Tip 5: Delhi NCR cost of living is high. Plan for ₹4-8 Lakhs additional in 4-year living costs. Delhi University area is cheaper than Gurgaon/Noida.
Tip 6: Don't underestimate JIIT Noida. Strong industry connections in Noida tech ecosystem. Better placement averages than many higher-tier private colleges.
Delhi NCR B.Tech application timeline — what the cycle looks like

Delhi NCR Engineering Cutoff 2026 — where to read the official closing ranks
📌 In one line: we are not going to give you a projected 2026 cutoff, because a projected cutoff is a guess with a decimal point on it.
This section used to carry our own 2026 projections, extrapolated from the 2024–2025 trend. They have been removed. A candidate who plans around a projected closing percentile is planning around nothing: the real number depends on how many people sat the exam, how the paper was marked, how many seats each college offered that year, and how the earlier rounds went — none of which a trend line knows.
Read the actual closing ranks instead, from the counselling body that published them: JAC Delhi for DTU, NSUT, IIIT-Delhi and IGDTUW; GGSIPU for MAIT, MSIT, BPIT and the other IPU colleges; UPTAC for the AKTU colleges in Noida and Ghaziabad; and each private university's own admissions page for its own rounds. The 2024 and 2025 official figures below are real closing data and are the right basis for a shortlist — use them to see which colleges are plausibly in range, then check the current year's published list before you fill choices.

Delhi NCR B.Tech — Education Loan & Funding Options 2026
An engineering education in Delhi NCR costs ₹6.5-30 Lakhs total over 4 years. Multiple funding options can help manage this investment.
📌 In one line: what you can borrow without collateral depends on which college you get into, and the ₹40 lakh figure quoted everywhere applies to almost none of them.
What regulation fixes. A bank must not take collateral on an education loan up to ₹4 lakh — that is an RBI mandate, not a bank's goodwill. Repayment runs up to 15 years. The moratorium is course period plus one year, not plus six months: the six-month figure people repeat is SBI's early trigger, which starts your EMIs six months after you get a job if that comes first. Printing it as the rule quietly shortens the runway you plan for by half a year.
What no one can quote you. There is no 2026 interest-rate band. The RBI deregulated education-loan rates — “The interest rates are determined by banks with the approval of their respective Board of Directors” — so any page printing a single range has invented it, and the rate will differ between a secured and an unsecured loan at the same bank on the same day.
What actually decides your limit: which list your college is on. SBI's Scholar Loan Scheme grades institutions into tiers with different collateral-free ceilings — List AA ₹50 lakh, List A ₹40 lakh, List B ₹30 lakh, List C ₹7.5 lakh. A college that is not on the list at all falls under SBI's ordinary Student Loan Scheme, where tangible collateral is the default above ₹7.5 lakh. Before you assume a number, ask the bank which list your specific college sits in — it is the single question that changes the answer most.
And two of the five lenders usually named together are not banks. Credila (formerly HDFC Credila) and Avanse are NBFCs. The RBI's Model Education Loan Scheme applies to scheduled commercial banks only — explicitly not to NBFCs — so the ₹4 lakh collateral mandate and the moratorium and tenure norms above do not bind them. That is not a reason to avoid them; it is a reason to read their terms separately instead of assuming the bank rules carry over.
One thing to build into your arithmetic: the interest that accrues during the moratorium is added to the principal — the IBA scheme's own words are “The accrued interest during the repayment holiday period to be added to the principal.” You do not repay what you borrowed; you repay it plus five years of interest on it.
PM-Vidyalaxmi is a portal, not a subsidy. This is worth correcting because it is repeated everywhere. PM-Vidyalaxmi describes itself as “the exclusive and unified portal for students to apply for education loans… and to submit applications for Educational Loan and Interest Subvention”. The subsidy is a separate scheme that happens to be applied for through it.
And it does not cover every college. The scheme is limited to “Quality Higher Education Institutions” — those ranked in the top 100 on the overall, category or domain tables of the national rankings, state institutions ranked 101-200 there, and all central-government-governed institutions. Check the portal's own institute list for the specific college you are considering before you build a plan on it; a college being well known is not the test.

What the schemes give. A 75% government credit guarantee on loans up to ₹7.5 lakh. For families earning up to ₹8 lakh a year, a 3% interest subvention on a loan up to ₹10 lakh — capped at one lakh students nationally, and not available if you already receive another government scholarship or subvention. Separately, under PM-USP CSIS, families earning up to ₹4.5 lakh get full interest subvention during the moratorium, on a loan up to ₹10 lakh, for technical or professional courses at approved institutions. Note that ₹10 lakh ceiling against the fees on this page: at a private university charging ₹4 lakh a year you would exhaust it in the third year.
Delhi government scholarship — SC, ST and OBC students. The scheme is the Merit Scholarship to SC/ST/OBC categories students studying in Professional/Technical Colleges/Institutions/Universities, run by the Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC, Government of NCT of Delhi. For a Group-A degree course, which is where B.Tech sits, it pays a fixed ₹20,000 a year to a hosteller and ₹12,000 to a day scholar — not a percentage of your fee, and not a reimbursement.
Two conditions decide whether you get it. There is no family-income ceiling for SC and ST students; for OBC students the ceiling is ₹3,00,000 a year. And the department's own wording on merit is strict: “The students should not have less than 60% marks in previous academic year.”
Read the amount honestly before you count on it. Across every course group this scheme pays between ₹8,000 and ₹24,000 a year. Against a private-university fee of ₹4 lakh a year it is a contribution, not a solution. If you have seen a figure like “up to ₹1,00,000 a year” attached to it — and it circulates widely — that number appears nowhere in the department's guidelines; it looks like an income ceiling from an older page, misread as an award.

Uttar Pradesh scholarship — and this is the one that matters for most colleges on this page, because AKGEC, KIET, ABES, Galgotias, Sharda, GL Bajaj, Bennett, JIIT and Amity are all in UP, not Delhi. The portal is scholarship.up.gov.in, and its own title names both halves of what it does: Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement Online System. Family-income ceilings are ₹2,50,000 for SC and ST students and ₹2,00,000 for General and OBC. The benefit is fee reimbursement plus an academic allowance — for a General-category B.Tech student, ₹13,500 a year as a hosteller or ₹7,000 as a day scholar.
How much of your fee actually comes back. B.Tech is Group-1 in the scheme's own course table, and for General, OBC and Minority students the fee reimbursement is capped at ₹50,000 a year. SC and ST students have no rupee ceiling — their reimbursement is the approved fee itself. Either way it is the lowest of several figures: the fee approved by the competent authority, the fee you entered, the fee locked by your university, the fee locked by your institution and the fee locked by the District Social Welfare Officer. At a private university charging ₹4 lakh a year, a General-category student should expect ₹50,000, not the fee back.
Three exclusions decide whether you get anything, and they are usually left out:
- Management-quota and spot admissions are ineligible. A student in a private institution who did not apply through the national or state joint entrance exam is deemed management quota and gets neither the allowance nor the reimbursement. If you take a direct seat at a UP college, this scheme is closed to you — a real cost to weigh against the convenience of that route.
- Your college must be NBA-graded, and this gate is live now. AICTE-approved institutions were required to obtain NBA grading by 2024, and from session 2025-26 only students in NBA-graded institutions are eligible; a parallel NAAC requirement applies to universities. Before you rely on this scheme, check that your specific programme at your specific college holds current NBA accreditation — institution-level approval is not the same thing.
- You need 60% in Class 12 for a professional course entered after school, 75% attendance during the year, recorded through Aadhaar-based biometric attendance from FY 2025-26, and you must be under 40 at a private institution.
- Hostel and mess fees are excluded, as are university and board examination fees and any refundable deposit — reimbursement covers the compulsory non-refundable course fee only. Worth knowing: the portal's own FAQ says the opposite on hostel fees. The niyamawali governs, not the FAQ.
- Paying the whole course fee in one lump sum makes you ineligible. Pay as the college bills you, not in advance.
And the reimbursement is capped, not open-ended: it is the lowest of the approved fee structure, the fee you actually paid, and the figures locked by the affiliating agency, the institution and the District Social Welfare Officer. At a private university that sets its own fee, it is capped at what a comparable self-financed course costs at a state university. Do not budget on your college's full fee coming back.

Which NCR colleges are actually on the loan lists
📌 In one line: nine of the eighteen NCR institutions on this page are on neither list, and the two lists disagree with each other — so check your specific college rather than assuming.
On SBI's Scholar Loan list, IIT Delhi is List AA (₹50 lakh collateral-free). DTU, NSUT, IIIT-Delhi, IGDTUW, GGSIPU, Shiv Nadar and Amity are List B (₹30 lakh). JIIT, Bennett, MAIT, MSIT, AKGEC, ABES, Galgotias, Sharda and GL Bajaj are not on it at all — for those, SBI's ordinary Student Loan Scheme applies and tangible collateral is the default above ₹7.5 lakh.
On PM-Vidyalaxmi, the eligible NCR institutions include IIT Delhi, DTU, NSUT, IIIT-Delhi, GGSIPU, Shiv Nadar, Amity, Galgotias and Sharda. IGDTUW, JIIT, Bennett, MAIT, MSIT, AKGEC, ABES and GL Bajaj are not on it.
Notice that those two paragraphs disagree, in both directions. IGDTUW is on SBI's list but not PM-Vidyalaxmi's; Galgotias and Sharda are on PM-Vidyalaxmi's but not SBI's. They are separate schemes with separate lists, and a page that treats them as one will mislead you. Two further details worth knowing: NSUT's East and West campuses are listed separately as List C, capping them at ₹7.5 lakh rather than ₹30 lakh; and KIET's entry on both lists is its pharmacy institution, not the engineering college, so a B.Tech applicant should confirm coverage with the bank rather than assume it.

If you are taking a management-quota or direct-admission seat, a loan is still available — the IBA model scheme says a student who qualifies on merit may borrow even for a management-quota seat. But it also says how much: “fees as approved by the State Government/Government approved regulatory body for payment seats will be taken”. The loan is sized to the approved fee, not to whatever the college charges you. If the seat price is above the approved figure, the difference is yours to fund.

NRI funding: Credila and Avanse both lend to NRI families, and Indian banks lend against an NRI guarantor. One correction to something repeated widely: foreign-source income used for fees is not outside exchange controls. Inward remittance and payment for education are governed by FEMA and the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme. There is a framework, it is straightforward to comply with, and a page telling you none applies is not a page to plan a transfer from.

Do I need a Delhi domicile certificate for the JAC Delhi 85% quota?
No — and this is widely misunderstood. JAC Delhi does NOT require an SDM-issued Delhi domicile certificate for the 85% Delhi-quota seats at DTU, NSUT, IIIT-Delhi, or IGDTUW. The eligibility is based strictly on the location of your Class 12 school: if your Class 12 school is situated within the National Capital Territory of Delhi (regardless of board — CBSE, ICSE, etc.), you qualify for the Delhi region quota. If your Class 12 school is outside NCT Delhi, you compete in the 15% Outside Delhi Region quota even if you and your parents have lived in Delhi for years. Required documents are the JEE Main scorecard, Class 12 marksheet from your NCT-Delhi school, and standard ID documents — no SDM trip needed.
