Category strategy for PICT
OBC, SEBC and EWS cutoffs remain close to Open for Computer Engineering, IT and AI & Data Science. SC and ST candidates have more headroom, but the top computing branches still need strong scores. Always compare the exact branch and seat type rather than using one generic PICT cutoff.
Which categories get the biggest movement?
The biggest movement appears in SC/ST and sometimes E&TC or Electronics & Computer. For Open, OBC, SEBC and EWS, PICT top branches stay tightly packed around 99+.

How to read PICT category-wise cutoff for 2026
Category-wise cutoff should be read as a planning range, not as a fixed promise. PICT cutoffs vary by branch, category, seat gender/type, round and admission channel. The Open, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, SEBC and other category rows answer different user intents, but the final admission decision still depends on the live 2026 CAP merit list and seat matrix. For broad PICT cutoff searches, Computer Engineering and IT should be treated as the hardest targets. For PICT OBC cutoff, PICT SC cutoff, PICT ST cutoff and PICT EWS cutoff, compare the category row with the Open row so the difference is visible instead of assuming that a category always produces a large drop.
The most useful way to use this page is to create three bands. If your percentile is above the latest closing range for your target branch and category, PICT can stay high in the option form. If you are within roughly 0.5 to 1 percentile of the closing number, keep PICT but add realistic Pune backups. If you are clearly below the category closing number, do not depend only on later rounds or spot activity. Add colleges where the last closing percentile is actually near your score.
Category cutoff mistakes to avoid
Do not mix MHT-CET category cutoffs with JEE Main All India cutoffs. Do not treat Institute Level or ILS values as CAP category values. Do not quote a single branch value as the full PICT cutoff. A correct 2026 shortlist should mention the branch, category, round and source. This is why the page links back to the PICT hub, cutoff, fees, packages, college code and management quota guides instead of making one large page carry every search intent.
