What SITEEE 2026 is and who needs it
SITEEE is the in-house entrance exam of Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Pune — established 2008 as a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), ranked #46 in NIRF Engineering 2025 and #8 among India's top private engineering colleges (India Today 2025). Because SIT is a deemed university, it sits entirely outside Maharashtra's DTE CAP counselling: there is no CAP application, no state merit list, and no seat allotted through the government rounds. Admission is a non-CAP route run by Symbiosis itself, and SITEEE is its primary gateway. SIT also accepts JEE Main 2026 and MHT-CET 2026 scores for a portion of seats, but every route converges on the same Personal Interaction (PI) round and SIU merit process. For the full route map — branch-wise fees, hostel costs and the placement record — start with our SIT Pune admission guide.
SITEEE 2026 exam pattern (official)
The single most misquoted fact about this exam: several third-party sites still list an equal 20-20-20 split across Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The official SET/SITEEE structure is different — Mathematics alone is half the paper:
| Section | Questions | Marks per correct | Section marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physics | 15 | 2 | 30 |
| Chemistry | 15 | 2 | 30 |
| Mathematics | 30 | 2 | 60 |
| Total | 60 | — | 120 |
- Marking: +2 for every correct answer, no negative marking for wrong or blank answers.
- Test window: 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM — one hour for 60 questions, so pacing is effectively one question per minute.
- Level: the paper tests 10+2-level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; for the detailed topic list, use the official SET/SITEEE site before planning revision.

SITEEE 2026 exam dates and schedule
SIT runs SITEEE twice in the admission cycle. You may appear in either test, or register for both attempts:
📌 In one line: round-wise schedule — cross-check live dates on the official portal.
| Event | Date / window |
|---|---|
| Registration deadline (SITEEE 2026) | 15 April 2026 |
| SITEEE Test 1 | Saturday, 2 May 2026, 11:30 AM–12:30 PM |
| SITEEE Test 2 | Sunday, 10 May 2026, 11:30 AM–12:30 PM |
| Admit card / slot details | Released on the official SET/SITEEE portal — confirm with SIT admissions |
| Result, PI shortlist & merit list | Announced by SIU after the tests — confirm with SIT admissions |
Source: SITEEE 2026 schedule per set-test.org / sitpune.edu.in. Admit-card and result dates are announced by the university; we have not listed unconfirmed dates.
Practical note on the two-test design: Test 1 on 2 May lands close to other engineering entrance windows, so many students book Test 2 (10 May) as either their primary or their backup slot. Since each attempt is billed separately, decide whether the second attempt is worth Rs 2,250 based on how your preparation is trending in April. If you intend to use both attempts, confirm with SIT admissions how scores from two attempts are considered before you pay twice.
SITEEE 2026 registration fees and how to apply
📌 In one line: fee structure — confirm the current-year official circular before payment.
| Fee head | Amount | Nature |
|---|---|---|
| SITEEE registration | Rs 2,250 per test | Non-refundable; charged once per attempt (Test 1 and Test 2 billed separately) |
| SIT institute registration | Rs 1,000 | Institute registration fee for SIT Pune, over and above the test fee |
Source: official SITEEE/SET registration fee schedule (set-test.org / sitpune.edu.in).
So a candidate taking one SITEEE attempt and registering for SIT Pune pays Rs 3,250 total (Rs 2,250 + Rs 1,000); both attempts plus institute registration comes to Rs 5,500. The application itself is online through the SET/SITEEE portal: register, fill the academic details, select your test(s), pay, and complete the SIT institute registration before the 15 April 2026 deadline. Keep your 10+2 (or appearing-status) details handy — the eligibility declaration is checked again at counselling, and admission stands cancelled if the final marksheet misses the threshold below.
SITEEE 2026 eligibility
The academic threshold is deliberately low — selection pressure comes from the test and PI, not the qualifying marks:
- Qualifying marks: 10+2 (or equivalent) with 45% aggregate; 40% for reserved categories.
- Subjects — CSE / AI&ML / E&TC: Physics and Mathematics compulsory, plus one of Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics / IT / Biology / Biotechnology (per the SIU eligibility norms).
- Subjects — Civil / Mechanical / Robotics branches: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics all compulsory.
- Appearing candidates: students writing their 12th board exams in 2026 can apply; final admission is subject to meeting the aggregate.
- Reservation (SIU policy, within sanctioned intake): SC 15%, ST 7.5%, PwD 3%, International/NRI/PIO/Foreign National: max 25% over and above sanctioned intake (SET 2026). This is the university's own reservation framework — SIT does not run any state CAP category seats.

After the test: merit list and the PI round
SITEEE is stage one of a composite process. Here is the sequence SIU follows for B.Tech 2026 admission:
- 1. Score submission: your SITEEE score (or JEE Main / MHT-CET percentile, if you chose that route) goes into the SIU admission system.
- 2. Shortlist: SIT publishes a shortlist based on entrance performance.
- 3. Personal Interaction (PI): shortlisted candidates attend a PI round — a structured conversation covering academics, motivation for engineering and branch interest. It is part of the final merit computation, so treat it as scored, not a formality.
- 4. Merit list & branch preference: the final merit list is released and candidates lock branch preferences online through the SIU admission management system.
- 5. Seat allotment & fee payment: allotted candidates confirm the seat by paying the first instalment — Rs 1,70,000 for Indian students across branches per the official SIU 2026-27 schedule — with the balance due by the second-instalment date.

Source: sitpune.edu.in / official SIU 2026-27 intake and fee schedule. Academic fees may rise up to 10% over the programme. Hostel (Rs 1.24–1.69L/yr), mess (Rs 1.20L/yr) and other campus charges are additional — see the SIT Pune hostel fees and SIT Pune fees guides.
How to prepare for SITEEE 2026
The pattern dictates the plan. Three structural facts should drive every hour of your preparation:
- Mathematics is 50% of the paper. With 30 of 60 questions and 60 of 120 marks, a strong Maths day can outscore a strong Physics-plus-Chemistry day combined. If your JEE/CET prep already leans Maths-heavy, SITEEE rewards it; if Maths is your weak section, it caps your score harder here than in any equal-weight exam. Prioritise 10+2 Maths fluency — speed on algebra, calculus and coordinate geometry style questions — over chasing obscure Physics topics.
- No negative marking means attempt all 60. A wrong answer and a blank answer both score zero, so an unattempted question is pure waste. Build the habit of answering everything: first pass for sure-shot questions, second pass for working guesses, final sweep to fill every remaining bubble before the hour ends.
- One question per minute. The 11:30 AM–12:30 PM window gives exactly 60 minutes for 60 questions. In mocks, train at 55 minutes to leave a buffer. Do not let one hard Maths question eat four minutes — mark, move, return.
Because SITEEE draws from 10+2 PCM, students preparing for JEE Main or MHT-CET need no separate syllabus grind — the adjustment is pacing and the Maths-heavy weighting. In the final fortnight, take timed 60-minute mocks in the actual 11:30 AM slot so exam-time alertness matches test conditions. And keep one evening for PI preparation: be ready to explain branch choice, projects or interests, and why SIT Pune specifically — the PI is part of merit, and a rehearsed, honest five minutes there is the cheapest score boost available in this process.
SITEEE vs JEE Main vs MHT-CET route at SIT Pune
All three routes lead to the same PI round and merit list — the difference is competition and benchmark. Since SIT Pune is a deemed university outside Maharashtra CAP, it never appears in CAP round lists at all; the figures below are admission benchmark estimates from observed admission trends, published by us for planning only:
📌 In one line: side-by-side comparison — cutoffs, fees & outcomes.
| Route | Estimated benchmark (CSE / AI&ML) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| SITEEE | No published score benchmark — confirm with SIT admissions | Primary gateway; largest share of seats |
| JEE Main 2026 | ~90–94 percentile (estimate) | Dedicated JEE-route seats |
| MHT-CET 2026 | ~92.5+ percentile (estimate) | Non-CAP route — score is used by SIU directly, not via state counselling |
Source: estimates from admission trends compiled in our SIT Pune cutoff benchmarks guide — these are admission estimates, not official CAP figures. Verify current-cycle expectations with SIT admissions.
If your entrance scores are below these estimated benchmarks, SIT also runs legitimate direct-admission paths — the Direct Quota (DQ) route and the NRI/International category (max 25% over intake of seats, USD fees). Both are covered in the SIT Pune direct quota and SIT Pune NRI admission guides.
Is SIT Pune worth a SITEEE attempt?
The exam fee question ultimately hinges on outcomes. SIT Pune's own placement page publishes year-labelled data:
| Academic year | % placed | Highest package |
|---|---|---|
| 2025-26 (ongoing at last official update) | 94% | Rs 27 LPA |
| 2024-25 | 92% | Rs 24 LPA |
| 2023-24 | 91% | Rs 50 LPA |
Source: sitpune.edu.in/placements (official placement page, accessed July 2026). Figures are year-specific — always read a placement number with its year attached.
Set against a Rs 3,250 total registration outlay, SITEEE is a low-cost option on a NIRF-#46 institute with a consistent 90%+ placement rate across recent labelled years — provided the Rs 3–4L annual fee fits your budget. Compare it with the Pune peer set in our SIT vs MIT-WPU vs PCCOE vs VIT comparison and the SIT Pune placements deep-dive before you lock the decision.
