Which VIT this page is about
This page covers VIT Pune = Bansilal Ramnath Agarawal Charitable Trust's Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Bibwewadi, Pune — MHT-CET CAP institute code 06273, an un-aided, autonomous, non-minority institute. It is not VIT Vellore, the separate deemed university in Tamil Nadu that runs VITEEE, and not VIIT Kondhwa (Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology), which is a different Pune college with its own CAP code and its own placement record. If you searched "VIT placements" and meant the Vellore university, the numbers below do not apply to you. Every figure on this page comes from the official vit.edu placement page for the Bibwewadi campus.

Official source used: VIT Pune placement page at vit.edu/placement, checked 2 July 2026. "Placement data for AY 2025-26 is ongoing, so final placed count, average package and branch-wise numbers should be updated only when VIT publishes the final placement disclosure."
What the ₹7.6 LPA median actually tells you
The median is the single most useful number on this page. A ₹50 LPA highest package tells you what the top of the funnel looks like in a good year; it says nothing about the offer a typical VIT Pune student signs. The median does: half of all placed offers at VIT Pune in AY 2025-26 are at ₹7.6 LPA or above, and half are below. Unlike an average, the median cannot be dragged upward by two or three outlier offers, which is exactly why VIT Pune publishing a median — rather than only a headline average — is a point in favour of its disclosure quality. When you compare colleges during MHT-CET counselling, compare median to median wherever both institutes publish one. Comparing one college's average against another college's median, or a final-year figure against an ongoing-season figure, is how most placement comparisons on forums go wrong. VIT Pune has not yet published a final average for AY 2025-26, so if a specific average matters to your decision, write to VIT Pune admissions (vit.edu) or wait for the final disclosure.

Official numbers vs third-party portal numbers
One-line summary of the table below: the official vit.edu figures and the numbers circulating on aggregator portals do not match — plan on the official ones.
📌 In one line: side-by-side comparison — cutoffs, fees & outcomes.
| Metric | Official (vit.edu/placement, AY 2025-26 ongoing) | Third-party portals (unverified) |
|---|---|---|
| Highest package | ₹50 LPA | ~₹45 LPA (source and year unverified) |
| Median package | ₹7.6 LPA | Rarely reported by portals |
| Average package | Not yet published for AY 2025-26 | ~₹8.2–9.5 LPA (methodology unknown) |
| Placement rate | Not yet published for AY 2025-26 | ~86.3% (not on vit.edu) |
| Companies / drives | 500+ companies/yr, 900+ drives | Varies portal to portal |
The third-party column is shown only so you recognise those numbers when you meet them on aggregator sites; FindUrCollege has not verified them and does not treat them as official. Portals mix admission cycles, count pre-placement offers differently, and often carry forward stale data. When an aggregator figure and vit.edu disagree, vit.edu wins.
500+ companies and 900+ drives: how to read recruiter volume
VIT Pune's official page cites 500+ companies visiting per year across 900+ placement drives. Those are two different things, and the gap between them is informative. A drive is a single recruitment event — one company can run several drives in a season for different roles, branches or batches, which is why the drive count runs well ahead of the company count. For an applicant, high recruiter volume matters most in the middle of the offer distribution: a college that hosts a handful of marquee recruiters can produce a flashy highest package, but it takes hundreds of active companies to hold a median up at ₹7.6 LPA across 1500+ students in process. Volume deepens the market for the typical student, not just the topper. VIT Pune does not publish a company-wise or role-wise offer list on the highlights page, so if you want to know whether a specific recruiter hires from campus, or which profiles dominate offers, confirm with VIT Pune admissions (vit.edu) or the Training & Placement cell directly rather than trusting forum threads.
Placement ROI against VIT Pune's official fees
The cleanest way to use placement data is against the official fee, and both numbers here are official. VIT Pune's FRA-approved first-year B.Tech fee for 2026-27 is ₹2,06,000, and the CAP fee sheet puts an Open-category candidate's first-year total at ₹2,12,171. Against the official median package of ₹7.6 LPA, the median first-year salary is roughly 3.7 times the FRA-approved annual fee — a healthy multiple for an un-aided private institute in Pune. The multiple improves sharply on concession routes: the official CAP totals fall to ₹1,22,606 for OBC/EBC/EWS/SEBC candidates, ₹33,041 for TFWS and other full-concession categories, and ₹6,171 for SC/ST candidates, so the same ₹7.6 LPA median lands on a far smaller fee base. The one route where you should redo this arithmetic is institute-level admission, where official first-year fees run up to ₹6,24,171 for Computer Engineering and the CSE-AI/AIML tracks — the placement outcomes are the same pool, but the invested amount is much higher. Full fee tables are on the VIT Pune fees page.
Branch demand signal from official 2025 cutoffs
VIT Pune does not publish branch-wise placement statistics for the ongoing AY 2025-26 season, so the honest proxy for branch demand is the institute's own cutoff PDF. In the official 2025 OPEN closing ranks, Computer Engineering closed first at rank 3505 (98.95 percentile), followed by IT at 4811, CSE-AIML at 5328, CSE-AI at 6163, Software Engineering at 6191, AIDS at 6531, CSE-Data Science at 6617, CSE-IoT-Cyber at 7218 and E&TC at 7614, with Mechanical at 11305 and Civil at 17109 closing much later. That ordering is the market's collective bet on placement outcomes by branch — students and parents chase the branches they believe convert best. Treat it as a demand signal, not a placement guarantee: circuit and core branches at VIT Pune feed into the same 500+-company recruiter base, and software roles routinely hire across branches. For actual branch-wise placed counts and packages, confirm with VIT Pune admissions (vit.edu) after the final disclosure. Round-wise closing ranks for every branch are on the VIT Pune cutoff page.
How to use these numbers during counselling
Three practical rules. First, anchor on the median: ₹7.6 LPA is the number to compare against PICT, PCCOE, COEP and other Pune options — the side-by-side is on VIT Pune vs PICT vs PCCOE. Second, respect the "ongoing" label: any site quoting a final VIT Pune placement percentage or average for AY 2025-26 today is ahead of the institute's own disclosure, which should tell you something about that site's methods. Third, cost the whole seat, not just tuition — if you will live on campus, add hostel and mess from the VIT Pune hostel fees page before running any ROI arithmetic. For CAP form-filling, option lists and the institute code, start from the VIT Pune admission guide.
