VIT Pune cluster: exact intent pages for cutoff, fees, placements, hostel and institute-level admission.
First, the entity check: which VIT is this page about?
This comparison is about VIT Pune = Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Bibwewadi, Pune — CAP institute code 06273, run by Bansilal Ramnath Agarawal Charitable Trust and listed by the Maharashtra CET Cell as an un-aided, autonomous, non-minority institute. It is not VIIT Kondhwa (Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, a separate Pune college with its own CAP code and cutoffs) and it is not VIT Vellore (a private deemed university in Tamil Nadu with its own VITEEE exam). If a cutoff or fee table you found elsewhere mixes these three names, discard it — the numbers are not interchangeable. Everything below uses VIT Pune Bibwewadi data only, taken from PDFs published on vit.edu and the CET Cell institute summary for code 06273.
VIT Pune vs PICT vs PCCOE at a glance

VIT Pune column: official 2025 OPENS closing ranks and percentiles from VIT's own last-3-years cutoff PDF (vit.edu/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/F.Y.-B.Tech-Cut-Offs_For_Last_3_Years.pdf); percentiles rounded to two decimals here — the PDF carries full precision (e.g. CE 98.9469989). PICT and PCCOE columns: CET Cell CAP 2025 Round-1 Open closings. Rounds and category codes can differ between sources, so treat gaps of a few hundredths of a percentile as noise, not a ranking signal.
Read the table for what it actually says. PICT's Computer Engineering closing of 99.71 makes it the hardest seat of the three — roughly the top 3,000 MHT-CET candidates. VIT Pune's CE at rank 3505 / 98.95 sits next, and its long menu of CSE variants (AI & ML, AI, Data Science, IoT & Cyber Security, Software Engineering) creates multiple entry points between 97.9 and 98.5 that PICT simply does not offer through CAP. PCCOE's CS-family branches close in the same band as VIT Pune's variants, with IT (98.61) slightly above its own CSE (98.46). If your percentile is in the 97.8–98.9 window, VIT Pune and PCCOE are your realistic Round-1 targets; PICT becomes relevant in later rounds only if seats slide, which recent years suggest is rare for CE.
Fee comparison: official 2026-27 figures
📌 In one line: PICT Open ₹1,23,000/yr is the cheapest by a wide margin; PCCOE ₹1,94,746 and VIT Pune ₹2,12,171 are close to each other; category concessions differ sharply.
📌 In one line: fee structure — confirm the current-year official circular before payment.
| Fee head (annual) | VIT Pune (Bibwewadi) | PICT | PCCOE |

| OBC / EBC / EWS | ₹1,22,606 (also SEBC) | confirm with PICT fee circular | ₹1,10,830 |
| TFWS / eligible girls / NT / SBC / PWD / orphan | ₹33,041 | confirm with PICT fee circular | confirm with PCCOE fee circular |
| SC / ST | ₹6,171 | confirm with PICT fee circular | ₹1,746 |
| Institute-level admission | ₹6,24,171 (CE / CSE-AI / CSE-AIML); ₹4,18,171 (IT / AI&DS / CSE-DS / CSE-IoT-Cyber / Software Engg / E&TC); ₹2,12,171 (Mech / Civil / Instrumentation) | ₹2,00,000 (UG ILS/NRI, all branches) | higher than the CAP fee — confirm with the college |
| 4-year Open planning figure | ≈₹8.49 lakh | ≈₹4.92 lakh | ≈₹7.79 lakh |
VIT Pune column sources: FRA approval PDF (vit.edu/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/VIT-Fees-approved-by-FRA-2026-27.pdf), CAP fee structure PDF (vit.edu/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Fees-structure-CAP_-FY-B.Tech-2026-27-2.pdf) and institute-level fee PDF (vit.edu/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Fees-structure-for-Institute-level-admissions-FY-B.Tech-2026-27-1.pdf). PICT: official FRA fee structure. PCCOE: official FRA records. Four-year figures simply multiply the current first-year total by four — FRA revises fees yearly, so treat them as planning estimates, not quotes. Where a cell says “confirm”, the figure is not in the official documents we verified — confirm with VIT Pune admissions (vit.edu) or the respective college before paying anything.
The fee story has two distinct layers. On the CAP/merit route, PICT is the outlier: ₹1,23,000 a year is roughly ₹90,000 cheaper annually than VIT Pune and ₹72,000 cheaper than PCCOE, so a PICT CE seat is both the hardest to get and the cheapest to hold. VIT Pune's headline Open figure looks highest, but its category ladder is unusually generous — an OBC/EBC/EWS/SEBC candidate pays ₹1,22,606 (almost PICT-level), a TFWS or eligible-girl candidate pays ₹33,041, and SC/ST candidates pay ₹6,171. On the institute-level route the order flips dramatically: PICT charges a flat ₹2,00,000 for ILS seats, while VIT Pune prices its institute-level seats by branch demand — ₹6,24,171 for the CE/CSE-AI/CSE-AIML group, more than three times PICT's ILS fee. If you miss the CAP cutoffs and are considering a non-CAP seat, that single row changes the entire affordability comparison.
Placement comparison: what the official disclosures actually say
📌 In one line: three different years, three different headline metrics — PICT publishes averages (2023-24), VIT Pune a median (AY 2025-26 ongoing), PCCOE averages and medians (2024-25); read them side by side, not as a ranking.
📌 In one line: placement figures per institute disclosures — year-labeled; verify current data.
| Metric | VIT Pune (AY 2025-26, ongoing) | PICT (2023-24 official T&P) | PCCOE (2024-25 official; CSE dept 2025) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Highest package | ₹50 LPA | ₹42 LPA | ₹60.32 LPA overall (CSE dept ₹60.34, international) |
| Average package | not yet final — confirm with VIT Pune admissions (vit.edu) | ₹12.5 LPA overall; ₹14.5 LPA CE; ₹13.8 LPA IT | ₹5.91 LPA overall; ₹6.78 LPA CSE dept |
| Median package | ₹7.6 LPA | not in the disclosure we verified | ₹4.5 LPA overall; ₹5 LPA CSE dept |
| Scale indicators | 900+ placement drives, 500+ companies/yr, 1500+ students in process | 93.15% placed (2023-24) | PCET group cites a max package around ₹61 LPA |
VIT Pune figures: official vit.edu/placement page. PICT figures: official PICT T&P 2023-24 disclosure. PCCOE figures: official PCCOE placement data for 2024-25 and the CSE department 2025 disclosure. We have deliberately not used third-party placement percentages or invented averages for any of the three colleges.
“Placement data for AY 2025-26 is ongoing, so final placed count, average package and branch-wise numbers should be updated only when VIT publishes the final placement disclosure.”
Two honest caveats before you rank anyone. First, the years differ: PICT's numbers are 2023-24, PCCOE's are 2024-25, and VIT Pune's cycle is still running — comparing a completed year against an ongoing one flatters no one reliably. Second, the metrics differ: a ₹12.5 LPA average (PICT) and a ₹7.6 LPA median (VIT Pune) are not the same kind of number — averages get pulled up by a handful of large offers, while a median tells you what the middle student actually signed. What the data does support: PICT's CE/IT averages are the strongest published averages of the three; VIT Pune's ₹7.6 LPA median is a genuinely useful mid-line signal; and PCCOE's ₹60.32 LPA highest is an international outlier sitting on a ₹5.91 LPA overall average — typical of one exceptional offer, not a typical outcome.
Hostel and living cost
VIT Pune's published hostel fee (latest published year: AY 2025-26) starts at ₹1,25,000 per year for boys and ₹1,20,000 for girls including the compulsory mess (breakfast + dinner), plus a ₹5,000 refundable deposit — so ₹1,30,000 and ₹1,25,000 total minimum respectively, for 2/3-sharing rooms. “VIT Pune has published hostel fee details for AY 2025-26. Students taking admission in 2026-27 should confirm the latest hostel allotment, room type and mess charges with the hostel desk during admission.” PCCOE lists 2026-27 hostel at boys ₹1,10,000 and girls ₹1,00,000 for the room plus ₹55,000 compulsory mess — ₹1.55–1.65 lakh all-in. For PICT hostel and mess charges, confirm directly with the college; we have not verified a current official figure. Location matters too: VIT Pune (Bibwewadi) and PICT (Dhankawadi) are both in south-central Pune within a few kilometres of each other, so off-campus PG/flat costs are similar; PCCOE sits in Akurdi in Pimpri-Chinchwad, closer to the auto-industry belt and generally slightly cheaper for private accommodation.
So which one should you choose?
Match the college to your percentile band and budget instead of asking which is “best”:
- 99.5+ percentile, CS-focused: PICT CE is the natural first option — the highest closing of the three and the lowest Open fee. VIT Pune CE is a strong second preference on the same option form.
- 98.5–99.5 band: VIT Pune CE (98.95) is in play; PICT CE usually is not in Round 1. Order your options PICT → VIT Pune CE → VIT Pune IT/CSE variants → PCCOE IT/CSE.
- 97.8–98.5 band: this is the VIT-Pune-variants and PCCOE zone — VIT CSE-AIML (98.44), CSE-AI (98.20), Software Engg (98.20), CSE-DS (98.09), CSE-IoT-Cyber (97.92), and PCCOE CSE (98.46), IT (98.61), AI&DS (98.52), E&TC (97.90).
- Reserved-category or TFWS candidates: compare the category fee, not the Open fee. VIT Pune's ₹33,041 TFWS/eligible-girls row and ₹6,171 SC/ST row change the affordability math completely; PCCOE's SC/ST fee is ₹1,746.
- Missed the cutoffs and considering institute-level admission: PICT's flat ₹2,00,000 ILS fee is far below VIT Pune's ₹6,24,171 for the CE/CSE-AI/CSE-AIML group; VIT's ₹2,12,171 institute-level row applies only to Mechanical, Civil and Instrumentation. Read our VIT Pune institute-level admission page before committing.
- Core/mechanical interest: VIT Pune Mechanical closed at 11305 / 96.78 and Civil at 17109 / 95.06 — accessible seats at an autonomous institute; PCCOE's Akurdi location adds Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen industry proximity for auto-sector aspirants.
All three are autonomous, FRA-regulated, CAP-participating institutes with credible official disclosures — none of them requires a “donation” route, and any agent claiming otherwise should be avoided. Seats on the merit route are allotted only through CET Cell counselling.
