BITSAT 2026 Exam Overview
BITSAT is the single gateway to the BITS Pilani campuses, one of India’s most respected private engineering institutes. Unlike the NIT/IIT route, BITS admits entirely on the BITSAT score together with a Class 12 minimum, so a strong BITSAT performance directly secures a branch and campus. Many aspirants prepare for BITSAT alongside JEE Main as the syllabi overlap.

✅ Session 1 was held 15–16 April 2026 and Session 2 on 25–27 May 2026 — the dates in BITS’s own First Degree table and its 2026 brochure. Its BITSAT landing page still prints 24–26 May and still says “Registration Window Now Open”, nine days after BITS closed the cycle; treat that page as stale. Confirm on admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in, which BITS names as its only official admissions site.
BITSAT 2026 Eligibility
You must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (or Biology for B.Pharm) and English, with at least 75% aggregate in PCM/PCB and at least 60% in each subject, as specified by BITS. Appearing candidates can apply subject to meeting the cut-off.
BITSAT Exam Pattern & Marking
130 questions in 3 hours, marked out of 390. Physics 30, Chemistry 30, English Proficiency 10, Logical Reasoning 20, and Mathematics or Biology 40. Each correct answer is +3 and each wrong one −1. The 12 bonus questions are not a shortcut — they unlock only if you have answered all 130 with time left, and once you take them you cannot go back and correct any earlier answer. BITS publishes the scale as 390 even though 142 questions would arithmetically reach 426; it prints “BITSAT maximum marks: 390” on every row of its own cut-off table, so 390 is the number to plan against. For scale, B.E. Computer Science at Pilani closed at 304 for AY 2025-26.
Three things BITS says itself that are worth knowing before anyone tells you otherwise: “Is there any Management Seat? No. BITS Pilani do not offer admissions on the basis of management quota.” “BITS Pilani do not consider the JEE Mains score for admission.” And its own fraud warning: “Beware of fraudulent calls, emails, SMS, and social media messages claiming to offer direct admission to BITS Pilani.” If you sit both sessions, the higher of the two scores counts.

Marking is +3 for a correct answer and −1 for an incorrect one. There is no separate counselling — branch and campus are allotted by BITS purely on the BITSAT score and stated preferences.
