ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Bihta is a central-government medical college run by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) — a statutory body under the Ministry of Labour & Employment — on a campus at Bihta, west of Patna. Established in 2021, NMC-recognised and affiliated to the Bihar University of Health Sciences (BUHS), Patna, it admits MBBS students on NEET merit through a distinctive mix of quotas — an Insured Persons (IP) quota for the wards of ESI-insured workers, the All-India Quota (MCC), and the Bihar state quota (BCECEB / UGMAC) — at a low, ESIC-subsidised fee.
ESIC medical colleges occupy an unusual niche: central-government institutions with a social-insurance mission, offering high-value, low-fee MBBS seats. The IP quota is the defining feature — a meaningful reservation for children of insured workers — alongside open AIQ and state-quota seats for everyone else. For a cutoff-clearing candidate (especially a ward of an insured person), ESIC Bihta is a strong, low-cost option in the fast-growing Bihta corridor near Patna.
ESIC Bihta’s MBBS seats are filled on NEET merit across (1) the Insured Persons (IP) quota — for wards of ESI-insured employees, allotted through the ESIC/MCC process; (2) the All-India Quota via MCC; and (3) the Bihar state quota via BCECEB (UGMAC). All are merit seats at a low, ESIC-subsidised fee — there is no management, NRI or donation seat. The exact IP/AIQ/state split and the current fee are set by ESIC/regulator rules and can change, so confirm the 2026-27 seat-matrix and eligibility (especially the IP-quota documentation) before counselling.
ESIC admission rewards getting the route and documents right. FindUrCollege helps you work out whether the IP, AIQ or state quota is your best path, prepare the IP-eligibility paperwork correctly, plan your MCC and BCECEB choice-filling, and avoid the slips that cost ESIC seats — a transparent guidance service for serious aspirants, never a seat sale.
The attached ESIC Hospital, Bihta (~300 beds) is a government teaching hospital serving the insured-worker and general population of the Bihta–west-Patna belt. Its patient flow gives students hands-on clinical exposure across disciplines through the MBBS years at a government-fee structure; confirm the current bed strength with ESIC.
For a NEET aspirant — and especially a ward of an ESI-insured worker — ESIC Bihta offers a distinctive combination:
The MBBS is the standard NMC competency-based course — 4½ years plus a one-year rotating internship — and it is set nationally, so we cover it once in the MBBS admission guide rather than repeating it here. What is specific to Bihta is the awarding body: the degree comes from Bihar University of Health Sciences (BUHS), Patna, and clinical training runs on the wards of the attached ESIC hospital, whose patient base is the insured-worker population of the Bihta–west-Patna belt.
ESIC admission is different from an ordinary government college, so understand which route applies to you:
If you are an IP candidate, the IP quota is usually your most attainable route; if not, you compete on the AIQ and state seats. Confirm the current split and the exact IP-eligibility documents well before counselling.
Both the IP-quota and the All-India-Quota seats at ESIC Bihta are filled through MCC at mcc.nic.in — the Round-1 2026 allotment above lists 33 ESI-quota and 15 All-India-Quota seats allotted there. Bihar-domicile state-quota seats run through BCECEB (UGMAC). Register on every portal that applies to you: they open on separate schedules and missing one closes that route for the year. How the rounds, upgrades and free exit work is the same everywhere and is set out in our AIQ vs state-quota counselling guide.
📌 In one line: ESIC Bihta’s own 2026-27 fee is not listed; the ESIC colleges that have published theirs agree on the IP and All-India tuition and disagree on the state-quota one.
ESIC publishes its colleges’ admission documents on esic.gov.in/admissions. Bihta is not among the colleges that have posted a 2026-27 MBBS fee structure there — checked across all seven pages of that listing on 23 August 2026 — so we do not print a rupee figure in its name. What two of its sister colleges have published for the same academic year is set out below, because it shows both what to expect and where the expectation breaks.
| Fee head | ESIC Andheri, Mumbai (2026-27) | ESIC Sanathnagar, Hyderabad (2026-27) | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuition — IP (Insured Persons) quota | ₹24,000/yr | ₹24,000/yr | The two agree. This is the figure usually quoted as “the ESIC fee”. |
| Tuition — All India Quota | ₹1,00,000/yr | ₹1,00,000/yr | The two agree. |
| Tuition — state quota | ₹1,00,000/yr | ₹60,000/yr | They disagree. State-quota tuition is set college by college, so it cannot be assumed for Bihta. |
| Hostel fee | ₹10,000/yr | ₹10,000/yr | Annual, where hostel accommodation is taken |
| Caution deposit | ₹5,000 | ₹5,000 | One-time and refundable — a deposit, not a charge |
| Hostel security deposit | ₹10,000 | ₹10,000 | One-time and refundable |
| University fee | not listed | ₹12,000 | One-time, payable to the affiliating university rather than the college |
Do not read either column as Bihta’s fee. The IP and All-India tuition lines match at both colleges, which makes them a reasonable expectation; the state-quota line differs by ₹40,000 between them, which proves ESIC fees are not identical across the network. Ask ESIC Bihta for its 2026-27 fee demand in writing before you build a budget, and pay only against an official receipt.
Nothing above should be multiplied by 4.5 to get a course total. The caution deposit and hostel security deposit are one-time and refundable, and the Hyderabad sheet states that tuition is payable across the 4½-year course with the final half-year collected alongside the fourth year — so the schedule is not a flat annual repeat. Books, instruments and mess are separate in every case.

📌 In one line: on the ESI (Insured Persons) quota the last Open-category seat here went at All India Rank 39,328 in MCC’s first round of 2026; on the All India Quota the same category stopped at 9,415.
MCC allotted 48 MBBS seats at ESIC Bihta in Round 1 of 2026 — 15 under the All India Quota and 33 under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme (ESI) quota. These are two separate merit lists and they close a very long way apart, which is the most consequential fact on this page if a parent is insured under ESI.

Sanctioned intake: National Medical Commission, “Seat Matrix as on 29.10.2025 (MBBS) for the AY 2025-26”, notice N-15029/09/2025-UGMEB, Bihar row 62. Evidence note: check the academic year beside any cutoff — these are 2026 Round-1 figures and are superseded within the same season.
Two things here are particular to a Bihar-domicile candidate rather than generic advice. The Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme is a state collateral-free education loan for eligible Bihar-domicile students — confirm the current ceiling and terms on the state’s own portal, since they are revised. And a family already insured under ESI should ask its local ESI branch office which welfare or education benefits currently apply, because those sit outside the usual scholarship system. Bihar and central post-matric scholarships for SC/ST/EBC/BC and minority students apply as they do at any Bihar college. General loan mechanics are in our MBBS education loan guide.
If you are not an IP candidate, weigh the AIQ and state-quota seats here against Bihar’s other government colleges on rank, fee and location — and use the IP route only if you genuinely qualify.
Hostel accommodation is provided; ESIC Bihta’s own capacity and charges are not listed publicly, and the sister-college sheets quoted above price hostel at ₹10,000 a year with a ₹10,000 refundable security deposit — ask Bihta for its own figure. After the degree and internship the route is NEET-PG or NExT, state council registration and practice, or ESIC and government service; see NEET-PG 2026.
Valid proof of the parent’s ESI insured status. The Round-1 2026 numbers above show why: the ESI-quota Open seats ran to AIR 39,328 against 9,415 on the All-India list, so this single document is worth roughly 30,000 ranks at this college. Missing or unacceptable insured-person proof is the commonest way an eligible candidate loses an ESIC seat, and it cannot be fixed inside the counselling window — start it before the NEET result. The standard counselling paperwork every candidate needs is listed in our documents for counselling checklist.
An ESIC hospital’s patients are mainly insured workers and their families, which is a different case mix from a district hospital’s — more occupational and lifestyle presentations alongside general medicine, surgery and the specialties. That is the real argument for an ESIC college beyond the fee. The counterweight is that Bihta was established in 2021, so the depth of clinical exposure depends on how fully the hospital is running now rather than on the network’s reputation. Ask about current bed occupancy and OPD load when you visit, and speak to a student already in the clinical years — that is the only reliable way to judge it.
On the value ladder, an ESIC college like ESIC Bihta sits alongside government colleges at the low-fee end — but with a distinctive IP quota that ordinary government colleges do not have. State government colleges (PMCH, NMCH, the GMCs) fill via BCECEB + AIQ; AIIMS Patna admits 100% through MCC; private colleges charge far more. For a ward of an insured worker, the ESIC IP route can be the single most attainable low-cost path to MBBS. Compare options with our AIQ vs state-quota guide and the Bihar MBBS hub.
