MCC NEET Counselling 2026 Round 2 Updates: Registration, Dates and Seat Allotment

MCC’s Round 2 dates, the provisional result, and what a Round 2 seat costs if you keep it, float it or walk away.

Quick answer: MCC posted the provisional Round 2 result on 10 September 2026 with Notice No. 19; its schedule put the Round 2 result on 11 September 2026, but at 10:25 PM IST that day MCC had not listed the final result and its own latest-news line said the result will be available on 12 September 2026. Do not act on the provisional list: MCC calls it “only indicative in nature and subject to change” and tells you to approach your allotted college only after the final result. MCC’s schedule has joining from 12 to 18 September 2026, and 18 September is the last date for AIQ and state seats alike. To keep your seat, report physically with original documents (Freeze); to try for a better one in Round 3, opt for upgradation online (Float). Not joining a Round 2 seat forfeits your security deposit: Rs 2,00,000 for deemed-university registrants.

Where MCC Round 2 stands, checked 11 September 2026

  • 10 September 2026: MCC posted the “Provisional Result for UG Round 2 Counselling 2026” with Notice No. 19; discrepancies closed at 06:00 PM that day.
  • 11 September 2026: the Round 2 result date in MCC’s schedule.
  • Act only on the final result. Notice No. 19 says to approach the allotted college “only after the declaration of Final Result.”
  • 18 September 2026: last date of joining.

At 10:25 PM IST on 11 September 2026, MCC’s UG Medical Counselling page listed no final Round 2 result and no Round 3 schedule, and its latest-news line said the result will be available on 12 September 2026.

MCC Round 2 dates 2026: AIQ, deemed and central seats

In one line: as of 11 September 2026, registration and choice locking were over; the final result, joining (12 to 18 September in MCC’s schedule) and verification (19 September) were still to come.

MCC’s schedule covers 15% All India Quota seats and all deemed, central university, AFMC, AIIMS and JIPMER (Puducherry & Karaikal) seats for MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing, in MCC server time.

State quota Round 2 and the common joining deadline

In one line: MCC’s joint schedule of 02.09.2026 gave state-quota Round 2 counselling 7 to 11 September 2026 (check your state counselling authority’s own notice for its steps), and AIQ and state seats share one last date of joining, 18 September 2026.

MCC’s schedule has the UG academic session commencing on 15 September, so joining on 16, 17 or 18 September means joining after the session has begun. Institutes must treat “all Saturdays/ Sundays and Gazetted Holidays as working days”, and MCC’s bulletin says the joining date cannot be extended. Provisional result vs final result: what Notice No. 19 says

In one line: the provisional list is “only indicative” and “subject to change”; only the final result gives you a seat to act on.

In the notice’s own words, the provisional result is “only indicative in nature and subject to change”; you “cannot claim any right over the allotted seat in the provisional result”; and it “cannot be challenged before the Court of Law”. Discrepancies had to reach MCC through the “Candidates Grievances and Query Redressal System” “up to 06:00 PM on 10.09.2026 only”. And you should “approach the allotted college/institute only after the declaration of Final Result.”

So do not travel or pay a college on the provisional list. When the final result appears, check it against the provisional one, then download your allotment letter from the MCC website.

Got a Round 2 seat? Freeze or Float

In one line: Freeze to keep this seat; Float to try for a better one in Round 3. Float delays physical reporting; it does not remove it.

The one-time upload. Freeze or Float, you upload scanned documents on the MCC portal, ideally within 2–3 days of the final result; if you did so in Round 1, you do not upload again. Answer any institute query by re-uploading in time, or the seat can be cancelled, and MCC’s bulletin forfeits the security deposit whenever an admission is cancelled for any reason, including failing to produce the required documents in time.

Upgraded from a Round 1 seat? You are “automatically relieved from Round 1 seat to join Round 2 seat” and keep no claim on the Round 1 seat. The same rule runs one round on: if you Float and are upgraded in Round 3, your Round 2 seat is cancelled with no claim on it, and the Round 3 seat cannot be resigned. MCC’s advice is to fill “only higher choices or any other choice which you prefer over the earlier allotted seat”.

What walking away from a Round 2 seat costs

In one line: Round 1 was a free exit, Round 2 is an exit with forfeiture, and a Round 3 seat cannot be resigned.

Registered for both? MCC charged only the higher, deemed fee, so Rs 2,00,000 is at stake. Walk away and you re-enter Round 3 only with fresh choices and full payment of fees. Refunds come after all rounds, without interest, to the paying account. See deemed university MBBS through MCC.

Round 2 seat changes: added seats and vacancy lists

In one line: MCC posted three Round 2 seat lists on 3 September 2026 and added MBBS seats on 5 September 2026.

The 5 September notice added 30 All India Quota MBBS seats reported by three institutes that day, pausing choice filling until after 07:00 PM on 05.09.2026:

Is Round 2 registration still open? Who can still get in

In one line: fresh Round 2 registration closed at 03:00 P.M. on 8 September 2026. Never registered? Your next door is a fresh Round 3 registration, and as of 11 September 2026 MCC had not published its dates.

  • Registered in Round 1, no seat or did not report: no re-registration was needed for Round 2; and if you registered in Round 1 or Round 2 and have had no seat allotted, the bulletin says you need not register again for Round 3.
  • Not registered in Round 1: the bulletin allowed a “Fresh New Registration for Round-2”, with full payment of fees, until the 8 September cut-off.
  • Registered fresh in Round 2, no seat: you enter Round 3 directly, without registering again.
  • Never registered: Round 3 takes fresh registrations, with full payment of registration fee and security deposit.

Documents to carry when you report

In one line: originals plus attested photocopies; a certificate saying your originals are deposited with another institute will not get you admitted.

  4. Date of birth certificate, if your Class 10 certificate does not carry it
  5. Class 10 certificate
  6. Class 10+2 certificate and marks sheet
  7. Eight passport-size photographs, the same as on your application form
  8. Identity proof: Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence or passport
  9. If applicable: SC/ST, OBC-NCL (Central List) or EWS certificate; the PwD eligibility certificate from MCC’s Medical Assessment Board; for OCI, PIO or foreign nationals, the documents in the bulletin’s NRI chapter

A certificate in any language other than English needs an attested English version carried with the original, since MCC notes some states accept English only; a name-spelling mismatch needs an affidavit. Check your college’s own list too, and our documents checklist.

Will I lose my security deposit if I do not join my Round 2 seat?
Yes, and joining then resigning forfeits it too. The amount follows what you registered for, not the seat you were given: Rs 2,00,000 if you registered for deemed universities (including anyone who registered for both), otherwise Rs 10,000 (UR/EWS) or Rs 5,000 (SC/ST/OBC/PwD). Round 1 was a free exit; Round 3 seats cannot be resigned.
