Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) is one of the four Jaypee Group universities (with JIIT Noida, JUET Guna and JU Anoopshahr). FindUrCollege is an official channel partner: applications on this page go directly to the university’s own admission portal.
Why choose JUIT Solan?
JUIT sits in Waknaghat near Solan, on the Shimla highway in Himachal Pradesh — a residential, hill-campus alternative to the NCR rush. Of the four Jaypee universities it carries the strongest computing tilt: of its 1,085 sanctioned seats, 630 are in CSE and its specialisations (Cyber Security, UX-UI Design, Full Stack), with AI/ML, AI & Data Science and IT alongside. It is also the only Jaypee campus with a biosciences line — B.Tech Biotechnology (45 seats), Bioinformatics (30) and MSc Biotechnology/Microbiology — plus a BSc in Forensic Science.
Our counsellor view: choose JUIT if you want the Jaypee computing brand at a calmer residential campus and you either hold a mid JEE Main rank or a strong 10+2 score (the 50% direct-merit channel is genuinely rank-free). Himachal students get a meaningful edge through the 10% state quota.
Programmes & Seats 2026

10% seats reserved for Himachal Pradesh school candidates · Armed-forces wards pay ~30% lower tuition · MSc/MTech/MBA applications close 15 Jun 2026
Admission Routes 2026 — Explained
1. JEE Main 2026 rank mode (50% of seats)
Merit is drawn purely on JEE Main 2026 All-India Rank — no other exam is considered. One ₹1,200 application covers all four Jaypee universities. Shortlisted candidates are intimated from 1 May 2026 and Round 1 is a common online counselling conducted by JIIT Noida on 7 May 2026 for JIIT, JUIT, JUET and JU Anoopshahr together; later rounds run at JUIT itself as vacancies emerge. Eligibility: 10+2 (2024/2025/appearing 2026) with Physics + Maths and 60% aggregate (55% SC/ST), pass grade in all subjects.
2. 10+2 merit mode (50% of seats)
A separate university-specific application (also ₹1,200) ranked on your 10+2 marks — apply in both modes to maximise branch chances; the brochure itself recommends it. The calendar tracks CBSE results: applications close 7 days after results, counselling intimation in 10 days, first round in 15 days.
3. Bio-group B.Tech (Biotechnology / Bioinformatics)
These two branches split seats 50% JEE Main : 50% 10+2-with-Biology/Biotech merit, and unfilled seats transfer between the two channels — a practical route for PCB students into a B.Tech.
4. NRI category and lateral entry
NRI admission (application ₹1,500) is 10+2-marks based with tuition of USD 7,800 in year 1; once admitted under NRI you cannot switch to the general category later. Diploma holders can enter 2nd year directly via lateral entry (apply by 15 Jun 2026; tuition ₹3,37,000 in year 2).
Eligibility, Programme-wise (Official)
| Programme | Official eligibility (2026 brochure) |
|---|---|
| B.Tech (all branches) | 10+2 in 2024/2025/appearing 2026 · Physics + Maths compulsory + one subject from Chemistry/CS/Electronics/IT/Biology/Informatics/Biotech/etc. · 60% aggregate (55% SC/ST), pass in all subjects |
| B.Tech Biotechnology / Bioinformatics | As above via JEE channel; the 10+2-merit half requires Biology/Biotechnology as core subject — Maths route not required |
| B.Tech lateral entry (2nd year) | 3-year Diploma or B.Tech 1st year, merit-based |
| BBA / BCA / BSc | 10+2 from a recognised board, merit on 10+2 marks |
| MSc (Biotech / Microbiology) | Relevant UG degree; DBT-supported MSc Biotech seats via GAT-B rank |
| MTech | GATE score, or university PGET for non-GATE candidates |
| MBA | Graduation + CAT/MAT/CMAT/SAT/GMAT/ATMA/CUET-PG, or university JMAT |
| PhD | NET/SLET or university entrance test; supervisor availability |
Counselling 2026: How It Actually Works
JEE-mode counselling is fully online. After applying, you upload your JEE Main result on the getadmissions portal; shortlists are drawn strictly on All-India Rank and intimated by email from 1 May 2026. In Round 1 (7 May 2026, common to all four Jaypee universities) you fill university + branch choices; seats are allotted in merit order. Later rounds run at JUIT itself as withdrawal vacancies open up — and the university carries out merit-based branch upgradation against those vacancies, so an early non-preferred branch is not necessarily final. In the 10+2 mode, counselling is held at the university about 15 days after CBSE results, with merit drawn on your board marks.
One process rule the brochure stresses: every communication — result updation, counselling call, offer letter — goes to the email ID in your application form, which cannot be changed later. Use a personal (not school or parent-office) email, check spam folders, and keep the same mobile number live through the season.
Application Fee & How to Apply

What does “channel partner” mean for you? FindUrCollege is an authorised channel partner of the Jaypee universities. Applying through the buttons on this page registers your application directly on the university’s own admission portal — same form, same fee, same merit process — while our counsellors remain available to help you with branch choice, counselling-day preparation and documentation, at no extra cost to you.
Documents to keep ready:
Keep ready: 10+2 marksheet (or admit card if appearing in 2026), 10th certificate, JEE Main scorecard (JEE mode), category certificate if claiming SC/ST or HP-school quota (school-leaving proof from an HP school — a bonafide certificate alone is not accepted), and passport/NRI documents for the NRI category. Provisional admission stands only after originals are verified and first fees are paid.

Scholarships & Concessions
Merit scholarships apply to B.Tech branches other than the CSE/AI/IT group:
| 10+2 aggregate | Scholarship |
|---|---|
| 90%+ | 40% of tuition fee |
| 80–89.99% | 30% |
| 70–79.99% | 25% |
| 60–69.99% | 20% |
BBA/BCA: ₹15,000/yr at 75%+ (₹10,000 at 60–75%). MSc: 20–50% of tuition by CGPA. Continuation needs CGPA 7.0+ each year with a clean disciplinary record. Wards of armed-forces personnel pay the lower tuition tier shown above, with further waivers for wards of war widows and disabled-in-service personnel.
Reservation, Hostel & Refunds
Reservation & quotas: SC/ST reservation per Government of India norms. 10% of seats are reserved for candidates who completed 10+2 from a school in Himachal Pradesh (a bonafide certificate alone does not qualify). Seats are also earmarked for wards of Kashmiri migrants/Kashmiri Pandit families and PM CARES for Children certificate holders (supernumerary).
Hostel: Residential hill campus at Waknaghat with on-campus hostels; NRI-category hostel is USD 1,870/yr. Hostel advance is fully refundable until registration day; after that, refunds are pro-rata monthly even if the room is never occupied.
Refunds: Tuition refunds follow the UGC 2026-27 notification. Refund requests are processed only via the official refund@juitsolan.in channel.
PG & Other Programmes
For postgraduates: MTech admits on GATE score or the university PGET (23 Jun 2026, result 26 Jun, offers by 27 Jun). MBA accepts CAT, MAT, CMAT, SAT, GMAT, ATMA and CUET-PG scores; candidates without any of these can sit the university JMAT in June. MSc (Biotechnology, Microbiology) admits on UG merit with CGPA-linked scholarships of 20–50%, and DBT-supported MSc Biotechnology seats use GAT-B rank. Brochure Fine Print You Should Not Miss
- Your email ID is permanent. Every counselling call, result updation and offer letter goes only to the email in your form — it cannot be changed, so use a personal ID and watch the spam folder.
- Apply in both modes, pay both fees. The JEE-mode and 10+2-mode forms are separate applications with separate ₹1,200 fees — the brochure recommends filing both to protect your branch choice.
- Late applications are void. Forms after the last date earn no place on the merit list, with no appeals.
- Vacant seats move between channels. Unfilled JEE-mode seats transfer to the 10+2 channel and vice-versa — totals stay intact, so later rounds are worth attending.
- Admission is final at one campus. No transfer between Jaypee universities afterwards; only merit-based branch upgradation within JUIT against withdrawal vacancies.
- Originals decide everything. Provisional admission converts only after certificate verification and fee payment; ineligibility discovered later cancels the seat.
- Anti-ragging: the university enforces the UGC anti-ragging regulations; affidavits are part of registration.
Strategy: Getting This Admission Right
1. Apply in both modes. The brochure itself recommends filing the JEE-mode and 10+2-mode forms separately — two independent shots at the same branch pool.
2. Mind the one-way doors. Admission is non-transferable between Jaypee campuses, and NRI-category admits cannot convert to the general category later. Decide campus and category before paying.
3. PCB students: use the Bio-group channel. Half the Biotech/Bioinformatics seats are ranked on 10+2 Biology marks — no JEE, no Maths cut-off.
4. Himachal students: claim the quota properly. The 10% HP quota needs 10+2 from a school located in HP — gather the school documents early.
A note on placements: the official supplementary brochure does not publish placement statistics for this campus, and we do not quote numbers we cannot verify. Ask the admission cell for the latest signed placement report during counselling, and use JIIT Noida’s published outcomes as the group benchmark while comparing. Our counsellors track outcomes across the Jaypee campuses and can give you a frank, family-level read on the trade-off between fee, branch and likely placement market before you lock a seat.
Which Jaypee university should you pick?
All four campuses share one Round-1 JEE counselling, one application fee, and the same group DNA — but they differ sharply on fees, location and programme mix. As a quick ladder on B.Tech cost: JU Anoopshahr ≈ ₹1.55L/yr (budget pick, western UP), JUET Guna ≈ ₹2.42L/yr (core branches + Diploma after 10th, MP), JUIT Solan ≈ ₹3.29L/yr (computing + biosciences, Himachal hill campus), and JIIT Noida ≈ ₹3.6L/yr (the flagship, in the NCR placement market). Remember: admission once taken is final and non-transferable between Jaypee universities, so pick the campus — not just the brand — before counselling day. Our counsellors can compare all four against your rank, board score and budget on a free call.
